About the role
The is responsible for architecting and maintaining the core data platforms that power our global financial infrastructure. You will own the strategic direction of database design, ensuring our transactional and analytical systems meet the demands of a borderless, agentic economy. This role requires deep expertise in both Oracle and PostgreSQL to drive performance, reliability, and scalability across our critical OLTP and OLAP environments. You will act as a technical leader, shaping engineering standards and best practices for database development across the organization. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, analytics, and AI teams to ensure data platforms enable innovation and speed. You will diagnose complex performance issues and optimize systems to handle heavy query loads without disruption. Ultimately, this role is about building and leading the database foundation that allows Unlimit to operate seamlessly at global scale.

What you'll do
- Architect and evolve scalable database schemas and PL/SQL packages to support high-volume transaction processing and analytical workloads.
- Design and implement data models that balance the needs of real-time transaction flow with the requirements of business intelligence and AI-driven insights.
- Lead the automation of database delivery pipelines, applying CI/CD discipline to ensure rapid, safe, and repeatable deployments.
- Mentor engineering teams by conducting code reviews, establishing SQL and PL/SQL standards, and promoting consistent deployment best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve slow-running queries using execution plan analysis, performance metrics, and database instrumentation to maintain system stability.
- Coordinate release planning and change management activities to minimize production risk and ensure high availability and uptime.
- Partner with analytics and AI groups to design data access layers and optimize database features to support fast, trustworthy data exploration.
- Optimize database indexes and partitioning strategies to handle heavy query loads while preserving service continuity and performance.
- Verify integrations between database layers and data infrastructure to ensure analytics pipelines and AI projects receive clean, reliable data.
- Guide the adoption of PostgreSQL features and tools where appropriate, expanding platform capabilities and broadening the team's technical impact.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of six years of professional experience developing with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in production environments.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of OLTP and OLAP design patterns and how they influence responsive and efficient database performance.
- Ensure critical systems remain online through disciplined change management, careful testing, and proactive monitoring practices.
- Write fast, efficient queries by applying strong knowledge of indexing strategies and execution plan interpretation.
- Lead at least one other developer, providing guidance on code quality, standards, and shared database development practices.
- Use Git as the foundation for version control, applying it rigorously to release management and database change workflows.
- Think in structured, logical ways and maintain a sharp attention to detail before delivering any database changes.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant IT field, such as computer science, information systems, or software engineering.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English at a business level when collaborating with global colleagues and stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and ETL processes to better support analytical and integration initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with AI or analytics workloads running directly on database platforms, adding extra value to data initiatives.
- Comfort with automation frameworks, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform for database provisioning and operations.
