Software Engineer- General Interest
Job description
About the role
Uniswap Labs is a core contributor to the Uniswap Protocol, the world's largest DEX, with over $4 trillion in volume across 17 chains. It builds products that help millions access the protocol, including the Uniswap Web App, Wallet, and Trading API. Uniswap Labs is also the primary technical provider for Unichain, a DeFi-native Ethereum Layer 2 built to be the home for liquidity across chains. When you join Uniswap, you become part of a team that's reshaping the way value flows on the internet. This is a general-interest posting, and it's exactly what it sounds like: we hire exceptional engineers when we find them, not only when a specific req is open. If you're great at what you do and you want to build in crypto, we want to hear from you - even if no listed role matches you. Applications here are reviewed weekly, and when there's a fit we'll route you to the right team and level as part of the process, not restart you from zero. We hire across our engineering pods - backend and distributed systems, frontend and product engineering, smart contracts, platform and infrastructure, security, and data - and across multiple levels of seniority. Tell us where you're strongest; we'll take it from there.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Ship well-tested production code used by millions, on systems that move real value
- Own problems end to end - from requirements and design through release and operations
- Work with a small, senior team that ships fast and reviews each other's work seriously
- Work in person with your team at our New York headquarters
- Contribute to the protocols and infrastructure that power the world's largest decentralized exchange
- Collaborate closely with product and design to turn ambiguous challenges into elegant, shipped solutions
- Write code that is robust, secure, and observable, and advocate for quality across the team
- Engage with an ecosystem of builders across chains, learning from diverse technical constraints
- Mentor and be mentored by peers who care deeply about correctness, performance, and reliability
- Prioritize ruthlessly so that the most valuable work ships first in a fast-moving environment
Requirements
- Evidence of excellence in your lane, whatever that lane is: systems you've scaled, products you've shipped, contracts you've secured, infrastructure you've made boring
- Strong fundamentals and range - we care more about how you solve problems than which tools you've used to solve them
- Genuine excitement about crypto and DeFi - prior crypto experience is a plus, not a requirement
- Able to work from our New York office
- Comfortable navigating incomplete information and making decisions with ambiguity while maintaining momentum
- Comfortable writing and reading code reviews across multiple languages and domains
- Track record of delivering complex systems that remain reliable at scale
- Willingness to learn deeply about new technologies while sharing your own expertise with others
Nice to have
- Anything you've built on or around crypto - protocols, contracts, tooling, integrations, or things we haven't thought of
- Deep expertise with the technologies you choose to work with - we don't screen for a specific stack, and we'd rather see depth and taste than a keyword list
- Open-source work, technical writing, or side projects that show how you think
- Love for unicorns :)
