As a , you will play a role in advancing our mission to support and enhance community initiatives through strategic fundraising and donor engagement. This position requires a dynamic individual who is about philanthropy and has a strong understanding of community needs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative fundraising strategies that resonate with potential donors and stakeholders, ensuring that Uja's philanthropic goals are met effectively and efficiently.

What you'll do
- Design and execute comprehensive fundraising campaigns that align with Uja's mission and objectives, targeting both individual and corporate donors.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing donors, ensuring they feel valued and engaged with Uja's initiatives.
- Identify and research potential new funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals, to expand Uja's donor base.
- Develop compelling proposals and presentations that effectively communicate Uja's impact and the importance of donor contributions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and digital content that highlight fundraising efforts and success stories.
- Organize and manage fundraising events, including galas, community outreach programs, and donor appreciation events, to foster community involvement and support.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, providing regular reports and insights to senior management to inform future initiatives.
- Serve as a representative of Uja at community events and networking functions, enhancing the organization's visibility and reputation within the philanthropic sector.
- Engage with volunteers and community members to inspire participation in fundraising activities and initiatives.
- Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and nonprofit fundraising to ensure Uja remains competitive and innovative in its approach.
- Assist in the development of the annual fundraising plan, setting clear goals and objectives to guide Uja's philanthropic efforts.
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of donations and fundraising expenditures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a similar role within the nonprofit sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing fundraising campaigns and achieving financial targets.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate Uja's mission and impact effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, community members, and organizational partners.
- Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- A strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape in Canada, particularly within the nonprofit sector.
Nice to have
- Experience in grant writing and knowledge of grant application processes.
- Familiarity with digital fundraising platforms and social media marketing strategies.
- Previous experience working with Jewish community organizations or similar cultural institutions.
- Certification in fundraising or nonprofit management (e.g., CFRE, CNP).

- Strong analytical skills to assess fundraising performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Creative problem-solving abilities to develop innovative fundraising strategies.
- Proficient in using CRM systems for donor management and engagement tracking.

- Familiarity with data analysis tools to evaluate fundraising trends and donor behavior.
Practical notes
- This position is based in North York, Ontario, and may require occasional travel for events and donor meetings.
- The Philanthropic Specialist will report directly to the Director of Development and will work closely with various teams within Uja to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Candidates must possess a valid work permit for Canada and be available for a full-time commitment.
- The role may involve evening and weekend work during peak fundraising periods or events.
