About the role
You will own the design and implementation of scalable backend APIs that power Twilio Segment CDP products for hundreds of thousands of businesses. You will collaborate closely with product management, architecture, and other engineering teams to define data models and identify performance bottlenecks in a fast iterating environment. You will evaluate and communicate trade-offs between feature velocity, system stability, and technical debt to ensure long-term sustainability. You will drive architectural decisions that enhance both developer velocity and the end customer experience. You will leverage AI tools to iterate quickly on products and features while writing quality code. You will unlock new possibilities for customers by solving some of the toughest engineering problems in real-time business communications and data.

Requirements
Eligible candidates must demonstrate mastery of core computer science fundamentals and proven experience building large-scale distributed systems. You must have strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles. Candidates should bring experience with RESTful API design, database systems, and cloud infrastructure to solve complex scalability challenges. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote-first environment where asynchronous communication is essential. Demonstrated ability to evaluate trade-offs between speed, stability, and technical debt is required. Experience with AI-assisted development tools and practices is expected as part of the daily workflow. You should have a track record of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that others can rely on. Collaboration across distributed teams is a core part of the role, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills.
