This role is open for Senior Principal Product Manager focused on our Developer Platform. You will own the strategic vision and execution for Twilio's Developer Platform as a product, defining the roadmap that transforms platform engineering into proactive, self-service experiences. You will manage foundational services, APIs, and infrastructure to empower internal teams and external partners to scale with confidence. You will treat the platform as a product, reducing cognitive load and support burdens through golden paths, a discoverable developer portal, and high-quality documentation. You will collaborate with product leaders, engineering, architecture, and design to define the future of developer experience, tooling, deployment, and operational capabilities. You will act as the steward for evangelizing our developer platform capabilities and driving roadmap prioritization across a scalable cloud platform. You will set the long-term strategy for Twilio's Commerce Platform while building a world-class PM team and partnering closely with cross-functional leaders to fuel growth.
What you'll do
- Define and own the product strategy for Twilio's Developer Platform, setting the vision and roadmap for foundational services, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Shift platform engineering from reactive, ad-hoc support into proactive, self-service experiences by treating the platform as a product.
- Introduce golden paths, a discoverable developer portal, self-service tools, and high-quality documentation to reduce cognitive load and support burdens.
- Collaborate with product leaders, engineering, architecture, and design to define the future of developer experience, tooling, deployment, and operational capabilities.
- Act as the steward for evangelizing developer platform capabilities and narrative, driving roadmap prioritization across a scalable cloud platform.
- Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and design to deliver innovative solutions that fuel Twilio's growth and enhance commerce, growth, and customer experience.
- Define and use success metrics such as DORA, adoption, and reliability to advocate for data-driven product strategies and continuous improvement.
- Build and lead a world-class product management team focused on platform and developer experience, fostering cross-functional alignment and execution.
- Conduct user research and analyze developer feedback to identify friction points and architect solutions like developer portals and documentation-as-code.
- Enable credible engagement with engineering leads by maintaining deep architectural and technical fluency in cloud-native technologies, microservices, CI/CD, and observability frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in product management, computer science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex platform or infrastructure products.
- 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of product managers or product managers in a platform or developer tools context.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying product management methodologies - including user research, roadmapping, and KPI definition - to internal infrastructure and platform teams.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and observability frameworks.
- Experience defining and using success metrics like DORA, adoption, and reliability to drive data-informed product decisions.
- Strong ability to build compelling narratives and influence cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations.
- Comfortable working in a remote-first, asynchronous environment while maintaining high collaboration and communication standards.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with industry frameworks and best practices such as DORA, CNCF, and Team Topologies.
- Experience with developer portal implementations, golden paths, and documentation-as-code approaches.
- Background in commerce, billing, or monetization platforms within a SaaS or developer-focused context.
