About the role

This position focuses on building and maintaining dependable applications that support Twilio's supply insights and trust initiatives. The role involves creating both back-end systems and internal user interfaces to ensure robust and scalable solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to develop features for our Messaging Supply products. The work emphasizes supplier interfaces, task automation, and the creation of new features for both internal and external stakeholders. This role is critical in driving forward the reliability and efficiency of our supply chain operations. You will be expected to take ownership of complex problems and deliver high-quality software solutions. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements. Success in this role will be measured by the stability and performance of the systems you build.

What you'll do

• Develop, test, and deploy features as part of a small, distributed team to create highly available and scalable services that meet business demands.
• Work with product managers, designers, and other engineers to craft intuitive user experiences for developers and end-users, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
• Maintain rigorous code quality through unit, integration, and load testing, as well as conducting thorough code reviews to uphold best practices.
• Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues within your team's area of responsibility, minimizing downtime and improving system resilience.
• Create new features for both internal and customer-facing applications to ensure smooth integration and positive user experiences across all touchpoints.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features, aligning technical solutions with business objectives.
• Optimize existing services for performance and scalability, ensuring that systems can handle growth and peak loads effectively.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering through deployment and post-launch monitoring.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to technical documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
• Engage in agile planning sessions to estimate work, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on coding standards, debugging techniques, and architectural decision-making.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and tools, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
• Ensure that all deliverables comply with security and compliance standards relevant to the Messaging Supply domain.
• Act as an active participant in on-call rotations, providing timely responses to production incidents and supporting resolution efforts.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in full-stack software engineering, demonstrating a proven track record of delivering complete applications.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems, to design efficient solutions.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes and best practices, including testing strategies and DevOps principles, to ensure reliable software delivery.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, web stack, and framework, enabling you to build and maintain diverse components of the system.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, for discussing ideas and implementation details with teammates and stakeholders across global teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment, managing your time and tasks effectively without direct supervision.

• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or Dropwizard, which are commonly used in enterprise-level applications.
• Experience with React or another web development framework, enabling the creation of dynamic and responsive user interfaces.
• A good understanding of DevOps CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that code changes are tested and deployed efficiently and reliably.
• Experience working within agile or scrum methodologies, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, supporting scalable and portable deployments.
• Experience documenting technical solutions and proposals, aiding in knowledge transfer and alignment with architectural standards.
