About the role
You will own the end-to-end strategic sourcing lifecycle for a defined set of indirect categories, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable procurement strategies. You will leverage analytical rigor to uncover cost savings opportunities, manage large-scale procurement improvement initiatives, and navigate complex negotiations to secure optimal vendor agreements. This role requires hands-on deep dives into category details while simultaneously developing and executing overarching category strategies that align with Twilio's growth priorities. You will drive the full sourcing process from initial RFI and RFP activities through supplier selection, contract negotiation, and execution, ensuring all outcomes meet business, legal, and compliance standards. You will continuously monitor supplier performance against established SLAs and champion data-driven decisions to optimize total cost of ownership. Additionally, you will act as a key advisor to internal stakeholders, influencing strategic choices that balance cost, value, and risk across the business. You will also maintain a pulse on industry trends and competitive dynamics to recommend pricing strategies and supplier optimization tactics. Your work will directly support Twilio's mission to deliver innovative communication solutions by ensuring the supply chain is efficient, resilient, and strategically aligned.

What you'll do
Develop comprehensive category strategies and sourcing plans for indirect spend areas including Software, Sales and Marketing, External Workforce, Professional Services, HR, Events, and Travel.
Partner with internal stakeholders to analyze business roadmaps, identify requirements, and build robust sourcing pipelines that support current and future needs.
Conduct in-depth market intelligence gathering to understand industry trends, pricing benchmarks, and supplier capabilities for informed decision-making.
Lead end-to-end negotiation processes with new and existing suppliers to achieve lowest total cost of ownership while balancing business priorities and constraints.
Continuously track and manage supplier performance against negotiated service level agreements to ensure accountability and value realization.
Design and execute request for information (RFI) and request for proposal (RFP) processes, coordinating reviews with business, compliance, security, and legal teams.
Manage the full bid-to-award process, including supplier evaluation, selection, and contract execution to ensure seamless implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and select vendors that align with Twilio's strategic objectives and risk appetite.
Adapt quickly to shifting priorities by providing sourcing support for a diverse range of categories such as professional services, HR and benefits, real estate, workplace, legal services, software, cloud, meeting and events, and travel.
Drive the implementation of complex strategic-to-operational (S2P) improvement projects and other procurement initiatives that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Utilize advanced analytical skills to model scenarios, assess financial impact, and present compelling recommendations to leadership.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and uncover innovative solutions or cost optimization opportunities.
Leverage procurement tools and technologies to streamline sourcing processes, improve data accuracy, and enable scalable operations.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices, standardizing processes, and implementing controls to sustain gains.
Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, translating complex procurement concepts into actionable insights and decisions.
Requirements
Demonstrate experience in indirect sourcing, with a strong background in technology and corporate procurement functions.
Possess excellent analytical and financial acumen, enabling you to evaluate business cases, assess cost trade-offs, and quantify savings opportunities.
Showcase superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and navigate complex organizational dynamics.
Exhibit a hands-on mentality with a passion for detail-oriented work, while maintaining a strategic perspective on category management.
Have a proven track record of managing large-scale procurement improvement projects from conception to completion.
Display agility in rapidly understanding complex business environments and adapting sourcing strategies accordingly.
Demonstrate strong contracting capabilities, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contract terms to protect Twilio's interests.

Nice to have
Preferred experience in sourcing cloud, software, and technology-related indirect spend categories.
Familiarity with managing external workforce and professional services procurement.

Understanding of global supplier management and cross-cultural negotiation dynamics.
