Frontend Software Engineer

About the role

Twilio is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to contribute to the development of its customer engagement platform. You will join a dedicated Scrum team responsible for building and maintaining the Twilio Console, a key product for businesses and developers. Key facts

What you'll do

• Construct, refine, and release new features for the Twilio Console using React, Typescript, Playwright, Vitest, and Buildkite.
• Take ownership of your code, respond to system issues, and participate in an on-call schedule to address incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Ensure all developed software meets the team's definition of done.
• Improve existing code and reduce technical debt.
• Write automated unit and integration tests within a continuous integration and delivery workflow.
• Manage your tasks using Github, Jira, and Twilio's internal build and deployment systems.
• Work collaboratively with product leadership and other team members to enhance the platform.
• Actively participate in design discussions, code reviews, backlog grooming, and other agile ceremonies to meet sprint goals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within your team's area of responsibility.
• Document projects you contribute to.
• Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies in a dynamic industry.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience building frontend applications with modern JavaScript, ideally including React and Typescript.
• Practical experience in creating and implementing testing strategies with automated testing tools like Playwright or Cypress.
• Familiarity with REST APIs or GraphQL.
• Understanding of automated testing practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• A commitment to sound engineering principles, including development and testing techniques, security, and automation.
• Experience in diagnosing and resolving production system issues.
• A positive attitude and the ability to learn and perform effectively within a Scrum team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team setting.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Familiarity with observability tools like DataDog and Grafana.
