About the role
In this pivotal position, you will lead the charge in managing and advancing Twilio's initiatives in environmental sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). Your primary focus will be to ensure that these programs are effectively executed, closely aligned with the organization's strategic objectives, and integrated across various departments to maximize impact.

What you'll do
- Spearhead the development and continuous improvement of Twilio's environmental sustainability and ESG strategies, ensuring they resonate with business objectives and overall corporate goals.
- Supervise the establishment of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction targets and formulate actionable plans to achieve these goals, which may include internal operational adjustments, market-based solutions, or carbon offset strategies.
- Uphold and advocate for robust ESG governance practices, weaving climate risk considerations into the broader enterprise risk management framework and providing insights to leadership on emerging ESG trends.
- Monitor and implement pertinent environmental and ESG regulations, standards, and frameworks, creating new processes as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of voluntary reports, such as the annual Impact Report, while collaborating with Legal, Technical Accounting, and Risk teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Formulate strategies for addressing customer inquiries and requests for proposals (RFPs) regarding Twilio's ESG performance and commitments.
- Review and validate submissions to ESG rating agencies, while keeping abreast of industry trends to effectively meet stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of sustainability within the organization and drive engagement in ESG initiatives.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in environmental sustainability, climate action, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on ESG principles.
- Proven track record of executing sustainability initiatives within established frameworks and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sustainability programs in a global context, including managing Scope 3 emissions effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of ESG reporting standards, environmental metrics, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for target setting.
- Experience working as a subject matter expert alongside Legal, Finance, or Compliance teams to ensure alignment and compliance with ESG initiatives.
- Familiarity with planning and executing Double Materiality Assessments (DMA) and navigating ESG regulations such as CSRD, CA SB253, or CA SB261.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create materials suitable for executive-level presentations.

- A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new systems, platforms, and technologies.
- A bachelor's degree is essential; an advanced degree or relevant certifications would be advantageous.

- This position is remote; however, it is not open for applicants located in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, or WA.
- Some travel may be necessary for team meetings or project-related activities.
- The compensation range varies based on
- For Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington D.C.: $141,520 - $176,900.
- For New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and California (excluding the San Francisco Bay Area): $149,840 - $187,300.
- For the San Francisco Bay Area, California: $166,400 - $208,000.
- This position may qualify for Twilio's equity and corporate bonus plans.
