About the role
You operate as a field data capture specialist within the Terry Soot Management Group, ensuring that high quality visual information is gathered directly from the environment where automation is not feasible. You are responsible for driving assigned routes with mounted camera systems and documenting the surroundings through still images, video, and lidar scans. Your work directly feeds into the improvement of a leading online mapping platform that relies on accurate and current visual data. You maintain strict adherence to predefined routes that focus on public roads, commercial districts, and points of interest. Each journey you undertake contributes to creating a comprehensive and reliable dataset for analysis. You are expected to handle the equipment with care and ensure that all capture protocols are followed precisely to meet project standards. Your observations and documentation serve as the foundation for informed decision making in urban and rural planning. You represent the company's commitment to safety, accuracy, and professionalism during every shift in the field.

What you'll do
Conduct detailed visual surveys of streets, landmarks, and public areas using specialized equipment mounted on company vehicles.
Capture high resolution photographs and video sequences that clearly document the environment while adhering to safety and quality guidelines.
Operate lidar scanning systems to collect three dimensional spatial data during assigned driving routes.
Record spoken narratives and audio cues where required to supplement visual information for comprehensive data sets.
Navigate through urban and suburban streets according to precise instructions provided by the project plan.
Ensure that all captured media is stored securely on board computers with solid state drives for later retrieval and processing.
Identify and flag sections that may require revisits due to weather conditions or insufficient image clarity.
Collaborate with remote teams to confirm route details, scheduling, and any adjustments needed for optimal coverage.
Maintain the camera and sensor equipment in good working order and report any technical issues promptly.
Participate in pre deployment checks and post mission reviews to refine the data capture workflow.
Complete all documentation related to the shift, including logs of routes traveled and any anomalies encountered.
Support the overall goal of building a reliable visual map database that can be used for navigation and planning purposes.
Follow all instructions from supervisors and safety officers to ensure a secure and efficient working environment.
Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attending scheduled shifts and completing assigned driving tasks.
Requirements
You must hold a valid driver's license appropriate for operating vehicles in Germany.
You need to have a clean driving record with no serious violations in recent years.
You should be able to pass a thorough driving safety test as part of the selection process.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the data collection activities.
You need to have a good understanding of road signs, traffic rules, and local geography in the Soest area.
You should be comfortable spending long hours inside a vehicle while maintaining focus on the environment.
You must be able to work full time within the regular business hours of 8:00 to 19:00.
You need to follow instructions accurately and complete all assigned routes without deviation.
You should have strong communication skills to interact with team members and report any issues clearly.
You must be able to handle basic technical tasks related to camera and lidar equipment.
You should be willing to revisit locations when weather conditions affect image quality.
You need to be reliable, punctual, and committed to meeting project deadlines.
You must be able to pass background checks and security screenings as required by the client.
You need to be physically capable of entering and exiting the vehicle safely multiple times per shift.
