About the role

You operate as a field data capture specialist within the Terry Soot Management Group, ensuring that high quality visual information is gathered directly from the environment. You are responsible for driving assigned routes while operating integrated camera and sensor equipment mounted on your vehicle. Your daily work involves taking comprehensive photographs and videos of streets, landmarks, and public areas to support detailed mapping projects. You capture additional data such as street features and point of interest attributes using onboard systems during each journey. You ensure that all recordings meet strict visual standards so that the information can be used for precise digital representations. You follow predefined paths through urban centers and tourist locations while maintaining awareness of traffic conditions and safety protocols. You store all captured media on vehicle mounted storage devices for later retrieval and processing by the company. You contribute to the success of a project that supports one of the leading online mapping platforms across multiple European markets.

What you'll do

Conduct vehicle based data collection sessions on designated public roads and around key attractions in the Magdeburg region.

Operate removable 360 degree camera rigs and lidar equipment mounted on your vehicle to capture detailed environmental imagery.

Follow assigned project routes that focus on streets, commercial districts, and points of interest according to a defined schedule.

Capture high resolution still photographs and video sequences that clearly show buildings, road signs, and surrounding infrastructure.

Record detailed audio notes and spoken descriptions where required to supplement visual information for mapping accuracy.

Monitor image quality in real time during drives and pause to reshoot specific areas when weather or lighting conditions are suboptimal.

Coordinate with central project management to adjust routes and revisit locations if additional data is needed for completeness.

Perform basic checks on equipment functionality before departure and ensure that all storage devices are properly prepared.

Upload captured data to secure on board computers with solid state drives and maintain organized file structures for each session.

Support the overall goal of creating an up to date visual map database that helps navigation and location based services in multiple countries.

Assist with labeling and contextual information gathering during or after drives to streamline later processing stages.

Participate in safety briefings and adhere to all traffic rules to protect yourself, the public, and company assets during data collection.

Document any unusual obstacles, temporary changes in the environment, or access issues that could affect future data gathering efforts.

Communicate regularly with team leads regarding progress, encountered challenges, and potential improvements to workflow efficiency.

Requirements

You hold a valid passenger car driver license appropriate for the country of operation and are legally allowed to work as a driver in Germany.

You possess a clean driving record with no serious violations or recent major incidents that would affect vehicle safety.

You are at least 21 years old and demonstrate reliability and professionalism in all interactions with clients and team members.

You have the legal right to reside and work in Germany without requiring additional permits during the contract period.

You are fluent in German, both written and spoken, to ensure clear communication during briefings and reporting.

You are able to work full time within regular business hours, specifically between 08:00 and 19:00 each working day.

You can commit to the full duration of the project, which typically spans three to six months of active data collection.

You are comfortable spending extended periods sitting while operating the vehicle and monitoring capture equipment.

You can manage repetitive driving tasks while maintaining attention to detail and following precise instructions.

You are willing to occasionally revisit locations when weather conditions allow for improved image capture.

You have strong spatial awareness and can safely navigate urban environments, roundabouts, and narrow streets.

You are able to perform light administrative tasks related to data organization directly on the vehicle computer system.

You do not have medical conditions that would be significantly aggravated by prolonged periods of driving and computer use.

You are able to follow safety guidelines and company procedures without requiring constant supervision.

Experience operating similar camera or sensor equipment in a vehicle environment.

Practical notes

The position requires full time availability during standard business hours from 08:00 to 19:00.

Travel is limited to the Magdeburg area and surrounding public roads, with no overnight stays required.

This engagement is structured as a contract based appointment rather than a permanent employment position.
