About the role
This position is a critical leadership role responsible for the oversight and execution of chemical treatment operations within a high-volume hazardous waste facility. You will own the end-to-end management of treatment activities, ensuring that incoming waste streams are rigorously evaluated for both treatability and financial profitability to guide optimal processing decisions. Leaders in this role set the direction for their teams by hiring, coaching, and holding direct reports accountable to strict operational and compliance standards. You will be measured not only on the technical execution of stabilization, neutralization, and evaporation processes but also on team retention, safety performance, and on-time delivery of results. This position requires a visible and predictable leader who is generous with context, removes obstacles for staff, and drives strategic problem-solving through analysis and creativity. Success in this role depends on your ability to balance operational cost control with unwavering commitment to quality service delivery and regulatory compliance. You will serve as a key technical and operational leader within the Plant structure, reporting directly to the Plant Manager and representing the team in cross-functional discussions.

What you'll do
Analyze incoming waste streams for treatability and profitability to establish the most effective treatment strategy and maximize operational efficiency.
Monitor and control operational costs across treatment processes while implementing safeguards to maintain high-quality service delivery and compliance.
Evaluate industry and market trends on a regular basis to identify opportunities for process improvements and strategic adjustments.
Perform on-call duties as part of the Emergency Response team, providing rapid response and technical guidance during critical incidents.
Execute chemical stabilization, neutralization, and evaporation processes with precision to ensure waste is treated to regulatory standards.
Apply strong technical knowledge and problem analysis skills to troubleshoot treatment issues and optimize process performance.
Ensure strict functionality in all levels of personal protective equipment during treatment operations to maintain a zero-injury safety standard.
Leverage expertise across the full Microsoft Suite and advanced Excel capabilities to manage data, generate reports, and support decision-making.
Coordinate with regulatory, safety, and operations teams to ensure all documentation and procedural requirements are consistently met.
Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, safety, and reliability of treatment operations.
Verify that all treatment activities comply with company standards, environmental regulations, and internal quality control protocols.
Assist in the training and development of team members to reinforce best practices and sustain high performance across the department.
Maintain readiness for rotating on-call responsibilities, including timely reporting to the designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response shifts.
Document all treatment processes, deviations, and corrective actions to ensure traceability and support audits or regulatory reviews.
Requirements
The posting states a minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant roles.
Possess strong communication skills to lead and provide direction for staff handling regulatory reporting to senior management.
Bring five to ten or more years of experience within the hazardous and non-hazardous waste business sector.
Demonstrate proven experience with chemical stabilization, neutralization, and evaporation processes.
Show strong technical knowledge essential for managing complex treatment operations and problem resolution.
Apply strategic, problem analysis, and creativity skills to address operational challenges and improve treatment methods.
Functionality in all levels of personal protective equipment is mandatory during facility operations and emergency responses.
Bilingual English & Spanish is preferred for effective communication with cross-functional teams and site personnel.
Expertise across the full Microsoft Suite applications with strong Excel skills is required for data management and reporting.
Hold a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree as a preferred academic qualification for the role.
Maintain current 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper Certification with an 8-hour refresher as a required credential.
Possess D.O.T. Hazardous Materials Training certification as a mandatory professional requirement.
Be eligible for and maintain Fork truck license eligibility and maintenance as part of job responsibilities.
Exhibit a personality conducive to teamwork and collaboration with diverse operational teams.
Be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship, ensuring immediate employment eligibility.
Own reliable transportation to perform job duties at the facility location consistently and on time.
Provide consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening (including THC).
Undergo random drug screening (including THC) to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.
Demonstrate the ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis as part of physical job demands.
Accept overtime work on a regular basis to meet operational and emergency response needs.
Maintain flexible hours within the Monday through Friday work week as required by operational demands.
Report to the designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts without exception.
Handle hazardous chemicals and biological waste routinely while correctly putting on and taking off personal protective equipment.
Understand that this role is considered safety-sensitive with significant responsibility for operational risk management.
