What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions that support the company's applications and services, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with product management and development teams to understand their cloud service needs and translate those into actionable engineering tasks.
- Develop and enforce best practices for cloud architecture, security, and compliance, ensuring that all services meet industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor cloud service performance and reliability, implementing proactive measures to address any issues that arise.
- Manage cloud budgets and resource allocation, optimizing costs while maintaining service quality and performance.
- Spearhead the adoption of new cloud technologies and tools, evaluating their potential impact on the organization's infrastructure and services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with cloud service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to enhance the technical skills of the engineering team and keep them updated on the latest cloud technologies.
- Prepare and present reports on cloud service performance, project status, and team achievements to senior management.
- Drive incident response and resolution processes, ensuring that cloud service outages are addressed swiftly and effectively.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to align cloud initiatives with the overall business strategy and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including their services and best practices.
- Proven experience in designing and managing scalable cloud architectures, with a focus on performance and security.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools to ensure cloud service reliability and performance.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
Nice to have
- Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools like Jira or Trello.
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.
