As a Senior Software Engineer within the Metrics for Release (MFR) team, you will be responsible for translating high-level safety, performance, and system requirements into robust, scalable, and production-ready software solutions. What you'll do
- Convert high-level safety, performance, and system requirements into detailed technical designs and production implementations that are scalable and reliable.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain Python-based services and AWS data pipelines that support metrics collection, validation, and analysis workflows essential for autonomous vehicle validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including requirements engineers, systems engineers, validation specialists, and software developers - to ensure accurate translation of system needs into software solutions.
- Analyze vehicle telemetry data, logs, and validation results to extract meaningful signals and metrics that reflect the vehicle's performance and safety status.
- Implement validation logic and automation workflows that integrate with existing testing and evaluation pipelines, ensuring seamless and repeatable release processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within data pipelines, telemetry data flows, and metric computation systems to maintain high reliability and data integrity.
- Contribute to the design and development of workflow orchestration systems, such as Temporal or similar frameworks, to automate complex validation and release workflows.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and documentation efforts to promote best practices and continuous improvement within the team.
- Support the deployment and monitoring of data pipelines and services in cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Assist in developing tools and dashboards that visualize metrics, validation results, and system health to facilitate decision-making and release readiness assessments.
- Stay current with advancements in cloud computing, data engineering, and autonomous vehicle validation techniques to bring innovative solutions to the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience; or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience; or a PhD with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Proven proficiency in Python development, with extensive experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing backend services and data pipelines.
- Deep understanding of AWS cloud services, including S3, Lambda, ECS, and Step Functions, and experience deploying and managing cloud-based data workflows.
- Demonstrated experience in developing or maintaining data pipelines, telemetry processing systems, or backend infrastructure supporting large-scale data analysis.
- Strong ability to interpret ambiguous or high-level requirements and translate them into functional, scalable software solutions.
- Skilled in debugging complex systems, utilizing logs, telemetry data, and data analysis techniques to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and experience working effectively within cross-disciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration frameworks, such as Temporal or similar workflow management tools, is highly desirable.
- Experience working with telemetry, event data, or time-series datasets, especially in automotive or autonomous systems environments, is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety-critical or high-reliability systems, and understanding of standards applicable to autonomous vehicle validation, is advantageous.
