You translate complex operational challenges into rigorous virtual test strategies that keep the system safe and reliable. You ensure every simulation decision is defensible and tied back to real driving evidence. You drive the conversation across teams so that virtual testing remains the trusted gate before any fleet deployment. You own not just the code but the standards, practices, and clarity that let others build on your work with confidence.

What you'll do
Architect end to end flows from raw drives through replay pipelines, shaping how scenarios move into cloud execution.
Define standards for simulation based validation, then shepherd consensus across verification, model delivery, and autonomy consumers.
Champion scenario generation and tool feedback, becoming the expert voice that guides adoption of our simulation platforms.
Guide virtual driver testing, clarifying when to use replay based methods and when recompute simulation best serves risk decisions.
Design and oversee test plans, then analyze logs and events to close gaps in coverage for sensors and control stacks.
Specify requirements for new virtual testing tools, describing how sensors, environments, and execution infrastructure must evolve.
Align roadmaps across verification, model delivery, and autonomy teams, exposing risks and tradeoffs before they block releases.
Elevate engineers through formal mentorship, raising the technical bar for the group and sustaining craftsmanship.
Improve testing practices systematically, then communicate status, risk, and progress to product and quality stakeholders.
Champion traceability from scenario to system behavior, ensuring every critical path is exercised and understood.
Drive the creation of reusable scenario libraries that reflect real world edge cases and support regression confidence.
Own the fidelity of virtual sensors, validating that synthetic data accurately mirrors the behavior of physical hardware.
Establish metrics that show how virtual testing reduces field incidents, tying simulation outcomes to fleet learning.
Lead incident analysis in simulation, recreating hard to reproduce conditions to guide long term fixes.
Partner with operations and field teams to prioritize scenarios that matter most to safety and uptime.
Requirements
You prove competence through experience, holding a Bachelor's in related engineering plus ten years, a Master's plus seven years, or a PhD plus five years.
You conduct complex work with wide latitude, making critical choices under minimal guidance while upholding quality.
You grasp the Software Development Lifecycle deeply, knowing how decisions today shape verification tomorrow.
You understand when recompute simulation supports safe conclusions and when real world data must anchor decisions.
You have extensive experience crafting test scenarios and debugging intricate software issues across distributed stacks.
You have hands on work with Software in the Loop and Hardware in the Loop testing approaches and their constraints.
You lead virtual testing events, tracing issues through the full software stack from sensors to planners.
You mentor senior engineers, raising the level of code review, design discussions, and execution standards.
You communicate risk clearly to product and quality teams, turning test outcomes into actionable insight.
You are comfortable working fully remote while maintaining rigor in test processes and documentation.

Nice to have
Experience contributing to open source simulation frameworks or robotics tooling.
Familiarity with commercial truck perception and control stacks.
Skills & tools
