About the role
Tomo is a digital mortgage company on a mission to eliminate the greed and complexity in lending, helping homebuyers save thousands of dollars. The hire will own the full end-to-end mortgage sales cycle, acting as the primary advisor to prospective homebuyers from initial contact to closing. This role requires ownership of building and managing a robust pipeline of warm leads while ensuring a seamless, tech-driven experience that converts interest into committed business. The successful candidate will be a solutions-oriented problem solver who identifies and addresses unique customer needs through a consultative approach. Adherence to investor guidelines and compliance standards for all documentation is a critical ownership area in this position. You will leverage deep expertise to quote rates and guidelines with accuracy and fairness, maintaining trust with every interaction. Ultimately, this hire will be responsible for becoming an expert user of Tomo's POS, CRM, and LOS systems to facilitate an efficient and accurate loan manufacturing process.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Advise Tomo's prospective homebuyers and guide them through the home financing process from application to closing.
- Work hand in hand with other internal sales and operations teams to ensure smooth and frictionless manufacturing of loans.
- Manage a pipeline of warm leads, nurturing relationships to convert them into closed business more effectively than competitors.
- Be creative and solution oriented, identifying tailored solutions to meet unique customer needs and taking a consultative approach.
- Be compliant, strictly adhering to investor guidelines for all documents required for a complete submission to Underwriting.
- Quote rates and guidelines with accuracy and fairness to maintain transparency and trust with clients and partners.
- Become an expert in our POS, CRM, and LOS systems to facilitate a more efficient, accurate, and streamlined process.
- Regularly visit our office in St. Louis to collaborate with the team and reinforce our hybrid work model.
- Balance a "hunter" and "gatherer" mindset to consistently source new business while nurturing existing opportunities.
- Utilize industry knowledge of loan products and pricing strategies to position Tomo as the preferred lender.
- Leverage expertise in Desktop Underwriter (DU) & Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA) to optimize decisioning.
- Multitask and stay meticulously organized while balancing a high volume of transactions without compromising quality.
- Perceive problems early and anticipate the needs of customers, real estate agents, and internal partners proactively.
- Drive the building of new processes and methodologies that establish best practices for the industry.
Requirements
- Must possess an active NMLS MLO License as a non-negotiable requirement for employment.
- Bring a minimum of 4 years of residential mortgage lending experience to the role with a proven track record of success.
- Demonstrate world-class ability to take buyers from "hello" to "keys in hand" with fearless excellence.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with both external clients and internal Tomo team members at all times.
- Build strong relationships quickly with all parties involved in the mortgage transaction, including agents and underwriters.
- Balance a "hunter" mindset for new business with a "gatherer" mindset for relationship management and retention.
- Apply deep industry knowledge of diverse loan products and sophisticated pricing strategies.
- Exhibit proficiency in using Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector or Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA) tools.
- Handle multitasking demands while staying organized in a high-transaction environment.
- Perceive potential issues and anticipate the evolving needs of customers and partners with strategic foresight.
- Maintain strict attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in every transaction processed.
