What you'll do
- Conduct thorough safety audits and inspections on job sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans tailored to specific projects, outlining safety procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and site supervisors to promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
- Provide training and support to employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training sessions, ensuring all documentation is up to date and accessible.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and ensure that all safety practices meet local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements based on industry best practices and lessons learned from past projects.
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety-related presentations and workshops for staff and subcontractors.
- Participate in project planning meetings to provide input on safety considerations and risk assessments.
- Act as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns and foster an open dialogue about safety issues.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in safety technology to continuously improve safety practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to construction projects.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey safety information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, or similar) is highly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with construction project management software.
