What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs tailored to specific project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety practices into daily operations and project planning.
- Organize and facilitate safety training sessions for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors to ensure everyone is aware of safety protocols and procedures.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits, ensuring all documentation is up to date and accessible.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employees, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, reporting findings to senior management.
- Lead safety meetings and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all team members.
- Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging safety technologies to enhance the effectiveness of safety programs.
- Coordinate with external safety consultants and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare the team for potential safety incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse workforce.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

- Familiarity with construction project management software.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a safety department.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification.
