About the role
The Weitz Company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is in overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of MEP projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead and manage MEP projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project specifications.
- Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, timelines, resources, and budgets, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changes.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure integration of MEP systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders, including clients, team members, and vendors, to maintain project transparency and collaboration.
- Prepare and present project updates, reports, and documentation to senior management and clients, highlighting key milestones and potential risks.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project schedules.
- Mentor and guide junior project staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Implement and enforce project management best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Ensure that all project documentation is complete, accurate, and archived according to company policies and industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, specifically within the MEP sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on MEP systems.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, MEP systems, and relevant building codes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required for project needs.

- Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and energy-efficient MEP systems.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its application in MEP project management.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a construction or engineering firm.
