What you'll do

Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs tailored to specific project needs, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and industry standards.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Lead safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits, preparing reports for management review.
Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employees, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
Stay current with changes in safety regulations and best practices, ensuring that the company's policies are updated accordingly.
Facilitate safety meetings and workshops to promote continuous improvement in safety performance across all projects.
Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to enhance overall safety outcomes.
Coordinate with external safety consultants and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
Actively participate in the development of project-specific safety plans and risk assessments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations.
Proven track record of implementing successful safety programs in a construction environment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Proficient in using safety management software and tools for reporting and documentation.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice to have

Experience with safety management in commercial construction projects.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices in construction.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR, with certification preferred.
Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse teams.
Previous experience in a leadership role, mentoring junior safety personnel.
