About the role
The Senior Designer, Marketing is a critical creative partner within the News+ marketing department, focused on translating the mission of The New York Times into compelling visual narratives. This is a temporary, 6 month role that is remote-friendly, allowing for concentrated creative work without geographic constraints. The position sits at the intersection of strategic marketing goals and hands-on design execution, requiring a partner who can move fluidly between concept and final production. You will own the visual direction of key campaigns that support both awareness and conversion objectives for News and All Access products. Success in this role means creating work that not only captures attention but also drives measurable engagement across a demanding media landscape.

What you'll do
Develop and execute conceptual, visually compelling marketing campaigns for the News product and All Access bundle, ensuring work supports awareness, consideration, conversion and retention goals across the full reader and subscriber journey.
Design and adapt campaign creative across paid, owned and earned channels - including digital, social, email, in‑app placements, app stores and OOH - in line with The Times' brand standards and News+ marketing strategy.
Translate in‑product experiences, editorial formats and key feature benefits into clear marketing assets that deepen engagement and drive habitual use of the News product and All Access bundle.
Implement the practical application of design systems for News and All Access marketing, including creating, implementing and maintaining component libraries and style guides in Figma, and ensuring pixel‑perfect execution across platforms and devices.
Collaborate with writers, art directors, audio and video partners to concept, refine and ship creative that clearly communicates the value of our journalism and our lifestyle products and drives subscriptions and engagement.
Help develop and maintain scalable visual systems, templates and libraries that enable disciplined experimentation across paid and owned marketing channels while upholding a high bar for craft and brand consistency.
Work from creative briefs, participate actively in reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders, staying comfortable with shifts in strategy or approach based on the news cycle or evolving business needs.
Create clear, compelling presentation materials and articulate the rationale behind design decisions to cross-functional partners, ensuring alignment and shared understanding of creative intent.
Champion the application of refined typography, layout, color theory, and motion design principles to elevate the visual language of Times journalism in marketing contexts.
Support the evolution of the News+ design language by contributing patterns and components that enhance consistency and efficiency for future campaigns.
Conduct design QA across all marketing touchpoints to ensure brand integrity and a polished, professional appearance in every execution.
Explore opportunities to integrate storytelling techniques from journalism into marketing visuals to create more resonant and trustworthy connections with readers.
Act as a visual problem‑solver, balancing business objectives with editorial integrity to ensure marketing supports the core mission of informing the public.

You will work closely with other marketing creative team members (writers, designers and our audio and video teams), as well as partners in marketing and media strategy, product design, audience insights and brand identity to bring to life campaigns across the marketing funnel that drive performance while upholding a high bar for design craft.
