You own the strategic creative vision for luxury brand projects within T Brand Studio, shaping narratives that align with The New York Times mission and elevate advertiser storytelling. You craft innovative, concept-driven work across video, digital, and traditional platforms, ensuring each project reflects the sophistication of luxury culture. You serve as the creative voice and trusted advisor during client interactions, guiding partners with clarity and journalistic integrity. You collaborate cross-functionally with lifestyle brands and strategy teams to uncover unique opportunities that amplify brand meaning within the NYT ecosystem. You lead the development and presentation of ideas, balancing artistic excellence with measurable client objectives. You champion a collaborative yet independent workflow, influencing creative direction without direct reports. You are expected to mentor and elevate the creative work of others through thoughtful critique and leadership by example. What you'll do
- Conduct in-depth analysis of luxury market trends and translate insights into compelling creative narratives for high-profile advertisers.
- Conceptualize and develop original story frameworks that integrate journalistic rigor with branded content objectives across video, digital, and print.
- Lead end-to-end creative direction for projects, from initial ideation through execution, ensuring alignment with client KPIs and brand prestige.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops with sales, strategy, and media teams to identify premium opportunities and refine project scopes.
- Translate complex client briefs into elevated creative concepts that resonate with target audiences and reflect the values of luxury categories.
- Partner closely with luxury sales and strategy stakeholders to expand relationships and secure new business through idea-led presentations.
- Mentor junior creatives by providing clear direction, thoughtful feedback, and professional growth opportunities within the T Brand Studio environment.
- Own the creative narrative across multiple touchpoints, ensuring consistency and quality in video, digital, and traditional mediums.
- Act as a credible expert during top-to-top client meetings, articulating creative rationale and demonstrating deep knowledge of luxury industry dynamics.
- Explore emerging formats and platforms to innovate storytelling methods while maintaining the integrity of The New York Times brand.
- Coordinate with production and design teams to ensure polished, high-quality deliverables that meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
- Evaluate campaign performance through structured feedback and insights, using findings to refine future creative strategies for luxury clients.
- Drive the discovery phase for new projects, unearthing cultural moments and brand intersections that create meaningful engagement.
- Represent T Brand Studio in external discussions, positioning the studio as a leader in luxury branded content and innovative storytelling.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, Fine Arts, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of seven years of creative experience, with at least three years in a senior creative role, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
- Demonstrable experience developing branded content for luxury sectors including fashion, jewelry, watches, home goods, or beauty.
- Exceptional conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills, with a portfolio that reflects sophisticated, idea-driven work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present creative concepts to clients and internal stakeholders effectively.
- Fluency in current luxury trends, fashion culture, and the broader dynamics of the premium goods landscape.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and creative excellence.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including sales, strategy, media, and production professionals.
- Comfort working within the New York City market and adhering to The New York Times standards and deadlines.
- Willingness to travel domestically for client meetings, industry events, or project requirements as needed.
- Demonstrated experience working within a hybrid work environment, balancing remote and in-office collaboration.
- Familiarity with advertising sales cycles and the ability to support business development efforts through creative leadership.

Practical notes
This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters, reporting to the Director of Creative. You can typically expect to come into the office 3 days per week. Willingness to travel domestically for client meetings, industry events, or project requirements is necessary. This role is exempt from standard work hour policies, requiring availability for high-priority deadlines and cross-time-zone collaboration when necessary.
