About the role
You will own the end-to-end technical strategy and architecture that powers our live shopping platform. You will set the engineering direction for real-time video, AI-driven personalization, and commerce integrations. You will stay deeply hands-on writing code while raising the bar for quality, performance, and reliability across the organization. You will mentor engineers and shape how the team builds standards, patterns, and operational excellence. You will partner closely with R&D management, Product, and Design on the highest-leverage problems. You will represent engineering with strategic customers and translate their reality into robust architectural decisions.

What you'll do
Define and own the end-to-end architecture of the Terrific platform spanning backend, frontend, data, AI, and real-time systems.
Drive engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, and operational excellence across the entire team.
Mentor engineers and grow the technical depth and capability of the organization.
Design and implement new services and features end-to-end, from database schema to user interface, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
Rapidly prototype features from concept A to production-ready state A to Z without blocking momentum.
Tackle the highest-risk, highest-impact problems personally, including live video reliability, real-time engagement, commerce integrations, and AI-powered experiences.
Evolve our technology stack thoughtfully across React, Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, GCP, Firebase, Firestore, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
Architect for global, 24/7 live operation with a focus on uptime, latency, cost optimization, and graceful degradation during peak live events.
Build for B2B2C scale, creating systems that serve enterprise customers, brands, retailers, and broadcasters across multiple regions and languages.
Partner with Product and Data on experimentation infrastructure so every meaningful change can be A/B tested, measured, and iterated upon.
Partner with Product and Design from initial concept through launch, taking full ownership in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Represent engineering with strategic customers and partners on deep technical topics, converting customer reality into sound architectural decisions.
Elevate the whole team through design reviews, technical writing, mentorship, and active hiring involvement.
Requirements
Bring 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a track record of leading at staff or principal level in high-scale production products.
Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with strong frontend experience in React and/or Angular being a significant plus.
Show deep experience designing and operating distributed, real-time systems in production, 24/7, under varying load conditions.
Possess strong data engineering instincts, including SQL and NoSQL, event-driven architectures, and analytical stores such as BigQuery or equivalent platforms.
Have hands-on experience building or shipping AI/ML-powered features in production, including personalization, recommendations, search, or generative AI.
Leverage experience on GCP, specifically with Firebase, Cloud Functions, Firestore, Realtime Database, and Pub/Sub, as a strong advantage.
Value experience with commerce platforms such as Shopify or WooCommerce, and/or live video/streaming infrastructure as a clear plus.
Exercise excellent judgment on trade-offs between scope, speed, performance, and user experience, backed by strong product intuition.
Communicate clearly and calmly, writing well, pushing back thoughtfully, and making the people around you more effective.

Only if the candidate has prior experience shipping AI/ML-powered features in production across multiple regions.
Practical notes
This is a full-time, on-site or hybrid role based in Ramat Gan.
Hours are standard full-time during core business hours with availability for critical live events as needed.
The position requires eligibility for work authorization in Israel and readiness for visa support where applicable.
Candidates must be able to start within a reasonable timeframe as business needs require.
Travel is not required for this role but may be considered for strategic customer engagements.
