About the role

Tenstorrent is seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage daily import and export compliance operations within our Canadian office. This position starts with high-volume screening and shipment processing, offering a clear path to manage more complex regulatory responsibilities as you gain experience. You will work directly with the Trade Compliance Director to ensure our semiconductor operations adhere to international standards. The role requires meticulous attention to regulatory details and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of compliance integrity. You will be instrumental in safeguarding the company against regulatory breaches and potential penalties. This position provides a foundational role within a dynamic and growing technology sector. Success in this role will depend on your ability to manage repetitive tasks with accuracy while understanding the broader implications of trade law.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Execute daily export reviews including restricted-party screening, end-use verification, and license determinations.
• Manage shipment release decisions and resolve daily inquiries from internal logistics and cross-functional teams.
• Draft and support Canadian export license applications and facilitate responses to government inquiries.
• Conduct research on regulatory requirements and internal products to document findings for compliance decisions.
• Maintain trade master data and develop internal procedures to support ongoing compliance workflows.
• Perform comprehensive screening of vendors, customers, and third-party intermediaries against denied parties lists.
• Classify commodities using the Harmonized System (HS) codes to ensure accurate duty assessment and regulatory reporting.
• Monitor changes in international trade regulations and interpret their impact on current business operations.
• Prepare detailed audit reports and maintain records to support internal and external compliance reviews.
• Liaise with external regulatory bodies and freight forwarders to resolve shipment discrepancies and ensure smooth clearance.
• Implement and maintain controls to ensure data integrity within compliance management systems.
• Support the development and delivery of compliance training for relevant internal stakeholders.
• Analyze transaction data to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to assess the tradeability of new and existing product offerings.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in international business, supply chain, customs, legal studies, political science, or a related field.
• Minimum of six months of experience in legal or regulatory compliance, specifically involving administrative tasks like government document preparation.
• Strong ability to quickly master new software, regulatory frameworks, and product specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Eligibility to access technology controlled by U.S. export laws is mandatory for this position.
• You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or another country as required by U.S. export regulations.
• You must be able to obtain necessary license approvals from the U.S. Commerce Department or other relevant federal agencies if applicable.
• Offers will be rescinded if export law compliance cannot be met.
• You must possess a valid social insurance number or equivalent work authorization in your country of residence.
• You must be legally able to work in the country where the position is located.
• You must be able to pass a background check as required by company policy.
• You must adhere to all company policies regarding confidentiality and data protection.
