The organization is seeking an enthusiastic and well-organized Supply Chain Contract Officer to join the team in Ottawa, Ontario. This position reports to the Senior Director of Global Procurement and Supply Chain Management. The role provides subject matter expertise for the effective acquisition of technically complex or commercially risky goods and services. It supports Telesat company objectives and program needs, including Telesat Lightspeed and the satellite fleet in low earth orbit that will integrate with terrestrial networks.
Working closely with functional stakeholders, this role coordinates with and manages suppliers to ensure adherence to all contractual requirements. The individual will be responsible for fully understanding requirements for the completion of contractual milestones and other Telesat and supplier performance obligations. These obligations relate to both deliverables and schedule. The role involves analyzing the contractual implications of proposed changes to specifications, statements of work, and other applicable documents.

What you'll do
- Execute the scope and objectives defined for the Supply Chain Contract Officer role at Telesat.
- Manage the end to end contract lifecycle for assigned agreements related to Telesat Lightspeed and satellite operations.
- Draft and initiate contract clauses specifically for satellite component and ground segment service purchases.
- Analyze supplier pricing structures and associated risks for complex goods and services within the Telesat portfolio.
- Coordinate verification of contractual milestones in collaboration with engineering and finance stakeholders.
- Implement and monitor change control procedures for modifications to technical specifications and statements of work.
- Assess supplier compliance against delivery schedules tied to critical milestones for orbital assets.
- Guide negotiation outcomes to ensure strict alignment with established procurement policies and internal controls.
- Review finalized contracts for adherence to regulatory requirements prior to execution and signing.
- Act as the primary compliance owner ensuring all supplier agreements meet Telesat standards.
- Support the onboarding process for new suppliers including ground station operators and system integration partners.
- Liaise with cross functional teams to resolve contract related queries and ensure mutual understanding of obligations.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to supplier delivery and schedule adherence.
- Maintain accurate records of contract amendments, approvals, and communications.
- Contribute to the improvement of contract management processes and best practices within the procurement function.
