About the role
As a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer at Talkdesk, you will be a key contributor in deploying and scaling our Agentic AI platform for some of the world's largest enterprise clients. Your expertise will be essential in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and reliable multi-agent systems tailored to meet complex enterprise needs. You will serve as a technical leader, bridging the gap between customer requirements and our platform capabilities, ensuring successful deployment and adoption. This role involves working closely with client stakeholders, guiding technical strategies, and establishing best practices for enterprise AI solutions. You will also be responsible for setting engineering standards, creating foundational tools, and mentoring team members to uphold high-quality technical delivery across global deployments.

What you'll do
- Lead the architectural design and deployment strategy for complex, large-scale global enterprise AI solutions, ensuring they meet security, scalability, and performance standards.
- Develop and maintain high-quality production code in Python, TypeScript, and Node.js to build custom AI agents, integrations, and automation tools tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate directly with enterprise clients to understand their technical environments, workflows, and pain points, translating these into effective technical solutions.
- Act as the primary technical contact for key accounts, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting, and optimization during deployment phases.
- Work closely with Talkdesk's Core Product and AI Engineering teams to communicate client feedback, influence product development, and ensure platform features support enterprise requirements.
- Mentor and review the work of engineering team members, promoting best practices in code quality, architecture, and deployment processes.
- Develop tools, frameworks, and automation scripts that facilitate the deployment, scaling, and maintenance of AI solutions across multiple enterprise environments.
- Lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during deployment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to improve deployment workflows, documentation, and technical standards.
- Build trust and influence decision-making among senior client stakeholders, including C-suite executives, by demonstrating technical expertise and strategic insight.
- Stay current with emerging AI and enterprise technology trends, applying relevant innovations to improve deployment strategies and platform capabilities.
- Contribute to the development of technical training and documentation to support ongoing client success and internal knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in software engineering or systems architecture, with at least 3 years dedicated to designing and deploying cloud-based AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Proven experience managing client-side architecture for large, complex IT infrastructures, including global ERPs and enterprise CRMs.
- Deep understanding of Agentic AI systems, multi-agent architectures, and complex integration frameworks.
- Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript, with a focus on developing secure, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise integration protocols such as REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with enterprise stakeholders, including C-suite executives and senior engineering teams, to influence technical decisions.
- Experience in managing deployments across multiple regions and ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and creating clear documentation.
- Experience working in or with enterprise sectors such as healthcare, retail, or finance is a plus.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical teams through complex deployment projects.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture and experience working with vector database management systems.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Epic, Salesforce, and SAP.
- Prior experience working in the Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) or Customer Experience (CX) sectors.
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or public technical thought leadership.
- Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
- Knowledge of security best practices for cloud deployments, including identity management and data encryption.

Practical notes
- Pay Range (Base Pay): $230,000 - $275,000
- Additional compensation may include long-term incentives such as equity and short-term bonuses.
