About the role
The Staff Forward Deployed Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for transforming Talkdesk's Agentic AI platform into scalable, production-ready solutions tailored for our enterprise clients. This role requires a highly experienced software engineer who can lead complex technical projects, design robust AI agent architectures, and oversee deployment processes from start to finish. You will work directly with customer teams to understand their needs, develop tailored solutions, and ensure successful implementation. The position involves managing technical risks, ensuring security and compliance standards are met, and delivering innovative AI-driven solutions that meet enterprise requirements. Your expertise will help drive the adoption of Talkdesk's AI platform in large-scale customer environments, enabling them to leverage advanced agentic AI capabilities effectively.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the technical execution of complex AI agent deployments, designing and implementing scalable architecture frameworks that adhere to enterprise security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Develop, test, and deploy high-quality production code, utilizing Talkdesk APIs, SDKs, and third-party integrations to build, refine, and optimize AI agents for customer environments.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for enterprise clients, engaging with their engineering teams and technical leaders to address complex questions and ensure alignment with their strategic goals.
- Capture deployment insights, document best practices, and create reusable solution patterns, tools, and templates to streamline future deployments and improve overall deployment efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical specialists, sharing best practices in AI architecture, deployment strategies, and client-facing technical delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams to relay customer feedback, suggest improvements, and influence product development based on deployment experiences.
- Manage technical risks during deployment phases, troubleshoot issues proactively, and ensure smooth, timely implementation of AI solutions.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, privacy policies, and ITAR regulations during all phases of deployment, maintaining high standards of data integrity and confidentiality.
- Participate in technical discussions with customer stakeholders, including engineering directors and solution architects, to ensure solutions meet their technical and business needs.
- Contribute to the development of deployment methodologies, documentation, and best practices to standardize and improve the deployment process across customer projects.
- Work on-site in Seattle, engaging directly with customer teams and internal stakeholders to facilitate seamless deployment and integration of AI solutions.
- Maintain a focus on delivering solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable, ensuring long-term success for customer deployments.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in software engineering or solution engineering, with at least 1 year dedicated to architecting and deploying AI/ML/Agentic solutions in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience in consulting for large-scale IT projects, including ERP implementations, AI system deployments, or similar complex technical projects.
- Strong background in designing and implementing multi-agent systems, including advanced planning, memory management, and tool-use frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Javascript, Python, and Typescript, with a focus on writing secure, scalable, and well-tested production code.
- Deep understanding of systems integration techniques, including APIs, webhooks, message queues, and data architecture, to facilitate secure and efficient data flow in complex customer environments.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering, model optimization, and designing collaborative systems for agents to achieve complex objectives effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with customer executives and technical teams, facilitating technical discussions and aligning solutions with customer strategic goals.
- Experience managing multiple deployment projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with security standards, privacy policies, and regulations such as ITAR, ensuring compliance during deployment processes.
- Ability to work on-site in Seattle, with a willingness to engage directly with customer teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of documenting complex solutions and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector databases, or similar AI infrastructure components.
- Hands-on experience with healthcare systems such as Epic or Aetna, or retail service platforms, providing domain-specific expertise.
- Background working within the Contact Center (CCaaS), Unified Communications (UCaaS), or Customer Experience (CX) sectors, understanding their unique technical and operational challenges.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, to enhance deployment flexibility.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards relevant to enterprise AI deployments.

Practical notes
- Pay Range (Base Pay): $200,000 - $260,000.
- Additional compensation may include long-term incentives such as equity, as well as short-term incentives like bonuses or commissions.
