About the role
The is a pivotal leadership position focused on establishing and driving the financial function for the Ugandan market within the Eleving Group. This role owns the end-to-end financial operations, from strategic planning to accurate and compliant reporting, ensuring the country function aligns with and supports the broader regional objectives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in building a high-performing finance team from the ground up, embedding robust controls and processes from inception. You will own the monthly Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting, ensuring these deliverables are precise, timely, and adhere to all relevant standards. This position requires a proactive approach to process optimization, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration to enhance regional financial efficiency. You will act as a key business partner, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive commercial and operational excellence. Ultimately, this role is about creating a scalable, transparent, and resilient financial foundation for the Uganda operation within the Eleving Group ecosystem.

What you'll do
- Establish robust accounting and financial procedures and processes to ensure effective financial and accounting reporting for the Uganda operation.
- Own monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Partner with local and regional stakeholders, providing financial insights and analysis to guide commercial and operational decision-making.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax authorities, and other financial partners to ensure smooth compliance and external engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the regional HQ finance team to ensure smooth integration into Eleving Group's financial ecosystem and consistent application of group policies.
- Lead initiatives to drive accounting and financial improvements, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and process standardization.
- Monitor adherence to local regulations and international accounting standards, proactively mitigating financial risks and ensuring governance.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and dashboards to support strategic planning, performance tracking, and management accountability.
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciliations are performed diligently and on schedule.
- Implement and maintain financial controls and internal checks to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to finance team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the annual budget and forecasting processes, aligning local projections with regional targets and strategic priorities.
- Serve as the primary financial expert for the Uganda market, interfacing with internal departments and external partners on all financial matters.
- Ensure timely and accurate statutory filings and compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting obligations in Uganda.
Requirements
- You need a Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- You need Previous experience in the fields of finance, business administration, project management, and similar.
- You need Understanding of IFRS accounting principles (B/S, P/L, CF).
- You need Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial software and databases.
- You need Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You need Strong leadership and team management capabilities to build, develop, and motivate a high-performing finance function.
- You need Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
