Senior Backend Developer

For one of our major energy sector clients, we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join their GenAI Incubator team. In 2026, the focus shifts from small-scale experiments to delivering high-value, scalable production solutions. You will design robust services that simplify business processes and enhance customer experiences through Generative AI. This role is embedded within a dynamic, forward-looking environment where your backend expertise will directly influence how AI capabilities are operationalized at scale.

What you'll do

• Design and build production-grade services using .NET on Azure with clean, maintainable code.
• Own features end-to-end, from initial discovery and design through implementation, testing, and ongoing monitoring in live environments.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, Service Bus, or Event Grid to enable resilient and scalable system interactions.
• Drive technical decisions regarding system performance, reliability, security, and cost to align with business objectives and operational constraints.
• Collaborate closely with frontend specialists and DevOps engineers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of cohesive solutions.
• Maintain and evolve existing backend services to improve stability, scalability, and operational efficiency over time.
• Apply domain-driven design principles to model complex business logic and support long-term product growth.
• Write automated tests and define observability practices that validate behavior and support rapid, safe delivery cycles.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities that uphold engineering standards and foster continuous improvement.
• Act as a technical owner for backend components, ensuring alignment between implementation details and strategic product goals.

Requirements

• Be legally authorized to work in the Netherlands without requiring sponsorship, as the role is based in Amsterdam and cannot be sponsored.
• Have significant hands-on experience building backend services using .NET, with a strong grasp of C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of designing and implementing event-driven systems using technologies such as Kafka, Service Bus, or Event Grid.
• Show deep understanding of cloud platforms, specifically Azure, including relevant services that support scalable and secure architectures.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems, identify bottlenecks, and propose robust technical solutions.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into clear technical requirements and implementation plans.
• Take ownership of end-to-end feature delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring and optimization.
• Work comfortably in an agile, cross-functional team environment, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous process improvement.
