What you'll do

• Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of various marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic systems on board vessels.
• Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with licensed engineers to execute planned maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Participate in emergency drills and safety training to enhance preparedness for onboard incidents.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Support the crew in the operation of deck machinery and assist with loading and unloading cargo as needed.
• Help ensure that all safety equipment is in good working order and readily available for use.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in marine engineering is a plus.
• At least 2 years of experience in a marine engineering or related role, preferably on commercial vessels.
• Familiarity with marine systems, including engines, generators, and electrical systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by operational needs.
• Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, as well as work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions.

Nice to have

• Previous experience working on offshore vessels or in the oil and gas industry.
• Knowledge of safety management systems and environmental regulations related to marine operations.
• Basic welding or fabrication skills to assist with minor repairs and modifications.
• Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.
