What you'll do
- Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of various marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic systems on board vessels.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with licensed engineers to execute planned maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Participate in emergency drills and safety training to enhance preparedness for onboard incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Support the crew in the operation of deck machinery and assist with loading and unloading cargo as needed.
- Help ensure that all safety equipment is in good working order and readily available for use.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in marine engineering practices.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in marine engineering is a plus.
- At least 2 years of experience in a marine engineering or related role, preferably on commercial vessels.
- Familiarity with marine systems, including engines, generators, and electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by operational needs.
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, as well as work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions.
Nice to have
- Previous experience working on offshore vessels or in the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of safety management systems and environmental regulations related to marine operations.
- Basic welding or fabrication skills to assist with minor repairs and modifications.
- Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.

- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in marine engineering.
- Understanding of basic electrical and mechanical principles related to marine systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency response procedures in a marine environment.
