What you'll do
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections using techniques such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and dye penetrant testing (PT) to evaluate the integrity of materials and components.
- Interpret and evaluate test results to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications, providing detailed reports on findings.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to develop inspection plans and methodologies tailored to specific projects.
- Train and mentor junior inspectors, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment, ensuring all tools are in optimal working condition for accurate testing.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a culture of safety by identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures to enhance inspection processes and outcomes.
- Stay current with industry advancements and regulatory changes related to non-destructive testing, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in non-destructive testing, with a strong focus on Level II inspection techniques.
- Certification in NDT methods such as UT, MT, and PT from a recognized body (e.g., ASNT, AWS).
- Proficient understanding of relevant codes and standards, including ASTM, ASME, and API.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, concise reports.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey inspection results to clients and team members.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Nice to have
- Experience with advanced NDT techniques such as radiographic testing (RT) or eddy current testing (ET).
- Familiarity with inspection software and data management systems.
- Previous experience in the oil and gas industry or related sectors.
- Additional certifications in safety or quality assurance (e.g., OSHA, ISO).
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using NDT equipment and tools, including ultrasonic thickness gauges, magnetic particle testers, and dye penetrant kits.
- Familiarity with inspection documentation and reporting software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the inspection field.
