About the role
As a Boat Captain at Supremeservices, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels. Your primary responsibility will be to navigate and manage the crew while maintaining compliance with maritime regulations. What you'll do
- Command and operate vessels of up to 100 tons, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maritime laws.
- Develop and implement navigational plans, taking into account weather conditions, tides, and other factors that may affect the journey.
- Supervise and manage the crew, ensuring that all members are trained and competent in their respective roles.
- Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions to maintain high levels of preparedness among the crew.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring that it is secured properly and complies with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of all operations, including navigation, weather conditions, and crew activities, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with shore-based personnel and other vessels to coordinate operations and ensure safety.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and effectively, implementing emergency procedures as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the vessel and coordinate repairs as needed to ensure optimal operational readiness.
- Stay updated on maritime regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and enhance operational efficiency.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the crew, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in maritime operations.
Requirements
- Valid 100 Ton Master's license issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of safe vessel operation.
- Strong knowledge of maritime laws, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse crew effectively.
- Proficient in navigation and communication equipment, including GPS, radar, and VHF radios.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that require lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
- Current first aid and CPR certification, with additional safety training preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience in offshore operations or working with specialized vessels.
- Familiarity with electronic navigation systems and software.
- Additional certifications related to maritime safety or operations.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the maritime industry.
