The Risk Engineering team creates products that reduce financial and regulatory risk while preserving a seamless user experience, protecting Stripe's brand and financial health. The Premium Merchant Experiences team helps businesses using Stripe succeed by delivering high-quality, contextual, and timely premium support. Our Dublin-based team operates as a startup within Stripe, building a greenfield product that combines AI-driven support with improved access to technical experts across the company.

What you'll do

You design and ship services that enable millions of businesses to accept payments and accelerate opportunity. You solve complex problems end-to-end with product, design, and partner teams while maintaining high code quality across diverse systems. You operate as an entrepreneurial generalist, balancing user experiences and data analysis to delight internal and external customers.

• Orchestrating intake of complex requirements while coordinating with partners to clarify scope and acceptance criteria.
• Designing and building core payments infrastructure and APIs that let merchants operate and scale reliably on our platform.
• Analyzing experiment outcomes and custom queries to validate behavior before changes reach production environments.
• Reviewing cross-functional designs to ensure consistency, reliability, and alignment with Stripe engineering standards.
• Shipping user-facing features and internal tools that support risk operations and premium merchant workflows.
• Partnering with Risk and Premium Merchant teams to deliver support capabilities that scale with business growth.
• Driving improvements across codebases, turning ambiguous problems into reliable, maintainable solutions.
• Owning end-to-end workflows from initial intake through final deployment and monitoring for high-availability systems.

What you'll need to succeed

• 2-12+ years of industry software engineering experience, excluding internships or co-ops.
• You navigate entire stacks comfortably, moving between languages and tools to understand and ship features.

• You write clean code in multiple languages, adapting quickly to new systems while upholding quality standards.
• You collaborate across workflows, contributing to peers and owning outcomes within evolving workstreams.
• You thrive with high autonomy, thinking entrepreneurially while managing significant ownership and ambiguity.
• You work as a generalist across technologies and stacks, solving problems for internal and external users.

Technical scope context

This role operates at the intersection of payments infrastructure, risk management, and premium merchant support. You will work on systems that process high-volume transactions, enforce risk controls, and enable premium support workflows.
