Role Summary
The Director of Property & Casualty Insurance leads the commercial P&C insurance practice at Storable. This position requires ownership of business growth and operational execution across a specialized portfolio. You will function as the General Manager for this insurance line, driving expansion and profitability. Success in this role demands a blend of external partnership and internal team leadership. You will build solutions, solve complex problems, and engage directly in the work rather than operating solely from a managerial perspective.
Key Responsibilities
You will own the growth of the P&C business by developing strategic partnerships with customers. Identifying expansion opportunities and driving retention across the existing portfolio will be core to your role. You will support new business generation and ensure long-term customer satisfaction.
Management of specialized insurance programs is a central duty. You will oversee programs specifically designed for industries connected to the Storable technology platform. This requires deep knowledge of the unique risks these sectors face.
Negotiation with carriers forms a critical part of the function. You will lead discussions for high-value renewals and program expansions. The focus will be on securing competitive pricing and comprehensive coverage for clients in the storage, RV park, and campground sectors.
You will develop and implement robust risk mitigation and loss control strategies. These initiatives will target key threats such as fire, flood, and theft within storage facilities, RV parks, and campgrounds. Proactive risk management will help protect client assets and stabilize insurance outcomes.
Reviewing contracts and advising customers on insurance requirements is a key duty. You will provide guidance on indemnification, subrogation, and hold harmless agreements. Identifying loss prevention recommendations and advising on risk transfer assumptions will be standard practice.
Acting as a senior advocate for clients during complex claims is essential. You will coordinate with internal legal and IT teams to resolve claims efficiently. This advocacy will ensure alignment between insurance operations and the technology ecosystem.
Oversight of the Applied Epic system is crucial for operational accuracy. You will optimize this platform to support policy administration, renewals, and claims processing. Ensuring real-time data integrity across all P&C operations will be a primary technical responsibility.
Conceptualization and launch of new insurance programs are core to innovation. You will design structural frameworks for proprietary insurance products and alternative risk transfer solutions. This will involve translating market needs into viable insurance structures.
Management of captive entities falls within this role. You will oversee the operational and financial performance of these entities. Collaboration with captive managers and actuaries will be necessary to maintain financial health.
Hands-on leadership defines the position. You will personally engage with accounts, navigate renewals, and resolve customer issues. This approach ensures direct problem-solving while you build the team for future scalability.
Required Qualifications
You must possess 7-10+ years of experience in commercial P&C insurance operations. Demonstrable success in owning customer relationships and managing carrier partnerships is mandatory. Your history must include responsibility for renewals and clear business growth achievements.
Competency in risk mitigation and loss control for commercial insurance customers is a prerequisite. You must understand how to implement strategies that reduce claims frequency and severity for specific industries.
An undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience is required. Formal education or a proven track record of professional development serves as the baseline qualification.
Technical expertise in agency management systems is essential. Experience using Applied Epic or a comparable platform is necessary for success. You must be proficient in policy and billing administration within these systems.
Current P&C producer licensing is required. You must hold an active license and maintain a deep understanding of property, liability, and workers' compensation coverage. Mastery of fundamental risk management and loss control practices is expected.
A thorough understanding of insurance policies, coverages, and core insurance operations is necessary. You must be fluent in the mechanics of property, liability, and workers' compensation claims management. This knowledge ensures informed decision-making and strategic guidance.
Compensation and Location
This role is based in the United States and operates as a hands-on leadership position. The compensation package includes a base salary of $140,000.00, along with potential bonus and equity components. The total compensation reflects the scope of responsibility and impact on the business.
