What you'll do

Design, develop, and implement scalable Java applications that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, providing constructive feedback to team members.
Troubleshoot and debug existing applications, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
Write unit tests and participate in integration testing to ensure the reliability and performance of applications.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating relevant innovations into the development process.
Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills and knowledge.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure effective team collaboration and project delivery.
Document technical specifications, system architecture, and application features to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Assist in the deployment of applications to production environments, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal downtime.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and enhance the overall development workflow.
Engage in performance tuning and optimization of applications to improve speed and efficiency.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java development, with a strong understanding of Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
Proficiency in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as experience with RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, and experience with ORM tools.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile and Scrum.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and familiarity with CI/CD tools.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.
A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Nice to have

Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with front-end frameworks like Angular or React.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development.
Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a software development team.
