Position Overview
SteerBridge is currently seeking a Security Architect to provide critical support for our expanding government contracting portfolio. This position is essential for the design and implementation of secure, compliant, and scalable architectures. These architectures must effectively support regulated systems and high-visibility enterprise platforms.
The successful candidate will exercise leadership in the realm of security design, compliance alignment, and comprehensive risk mitigation. The scope covers both cloud and hybrid environments. Success in this role demands a sophisticated understanding of commercial security standards as well as federal cybersecurity frameworks. The individual must thrive within a collaborative, high-trust engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities
You will define the protection strategy for sensitive workloads and regulated data across civilian and commercial programs. This involves translating complex mandates into practical, actionable controls while maintaining close partnership with delivery teams. Your decisions will directly shape the integrity of the architecture, particularly under strict oversight requirements.
Your specific duties will include the following.
- Designing zero trust patterns that satisfy federal mandates and commercial best practices for critical platforms.
- Establishing secure foundations through the creation and management of reference blueprints, ensuring every environment adheres to strict governance and audit expectations.
- Coordinating with engineering groups to embed security requirements early in the lifecycle, ensuring alignment with risk assessments and operational realities.
- Guiding the evaluation of technologies and controls, selecting approaches that balance the need for innovation with compliance obligations and lifecycle management.
- Translating complex regulations and mandates into actionable guidance, enabling technical teams to build solutions that remain audit-ready under evolving oversight.
- Partnering with integrators and suppliers to verify that contractual deliverables meet established security standards and contractual clauses.
- Monitoring the threat landscape and identifying architectural weaknesses, driving improvements that reduce exposure across all deployed services.
- Championing measurable outcomes, demonstrating how specific design decisions reduce incidents and strengthen organizational resilience for leadership and oversight bodies.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must currently hold an active Secret clearance and be eligible for Public Trust positions.
You must bring a decade of experience securing complex systems. This experience must include deep, hands-on knowledge spanning cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
You must possess a thorough understanding of NIST, ISO, and CMMC frameworks, and you must have a proven ability to apply this knowledge when guiding security architectures for regulated workloads.
Your practical experience must include hands-on work with identity, network, and data protection controls. This experience must be demonstrated across both on-premises and cloud platforms.
You must be capable of reading and interpreting complex technical documentation and translating those requirements into secure implementation guidance.
You must have a demonstrated history of working in program environments with strict compliance schedules. Your experience must include the delivery of solutions while adhering to government acquisition constraints.
Nice to Have
Experience supporting clients who require Top Secret clearance and possess SCI eligibility is highly valued.
