About the role
Spotify is on the lookout for a skilled Fraud Analyst to become a part of our Revenue Protection Operations team. This role is crucial in fortifying our strategies against fraudulent activities while supporting user growth and ensuring a secure platform. As we continue to grow, your insights will be invaluable in addressing intricate issues related to payment fraud, chargebacks, and misuse of the platform.

What you'll do
- Monitor and analyze suspicious activities flagged by our fraud detection systems, implementing protective measures to safeguard users and minimize revenue loss.
- Research and incorporate innovative AI technologies and automated solutions to enhance fraud detection capabilities and streamline operational processes.
- Work closely with internal Product and Engineering teams, as well as external partners, to conceptualize and test system improvements that respond to changing fraud patterns.
- Investigate emerging fraud trends and misuse, offering data-driven insights and actionable recommendations for enhancing performance.
- Handle daily escalations related to fraud and misuse, collaborating with Data Science, Engineering, and Product teams to devise effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Support the Revenue Protection leadership in refining internal policies, automating workflows, managing evidence, and updating operational playbooks to reflect best practices.
- Conduct thorough analyses of chargeback cases, identifying root causes and suggesting preventive measures to reduce future occurrences.
- Prepare and present reports on fraud trends and operational performance to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
- Participate in training sessions to educate team members on the latest fraud prevention techniques and tools.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring that our practices align with legal standards.
- Collaborate with marketing and customer support teams to address user concerns related to fraud and enhance user trust in our platform.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in a fraud analyst or revenue protection role, preferably in e-commerce, merchant fraud, or marketplace settings. Adaptability is key for this fixed-term position.
- A solid understanding of fraud prevention strategies, chargeback management, financial crime risks, and contemporary industry trends.
- Familiarity with machine learning and rule-based fraud prevention tools such as Ravelin, Sift, Signifyd, or Accertify. A proactive mindset towards leveraging AI technologies for fraud detection is essential.
- Proficient in data analysis using SQL, with knowledge of Google BigQuery being advantageous, and experience with visualization tools like Looker or Tableau.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with a knack for creatively solving problems, particularly in ambiguous scenarios.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a collaborative spirit to foster relationships with internal teams and external partners.

- Experience in a fast-paced tech environment, demonstrating the ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and their vulnerabilities, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of fraud risks.
