About the role
Join the team building the digital infrastructure for Starlink, the world's largest satellite internet constellation. You will develop full-stack solutions to support large-scale enterprise customers across sectors like emergency response and telecommunications. In this capacity, you will own the complete lifecycle of critical software products from initial conception through deployment and ongoing optimization. What you'll do
- Architect and implement scalable backend services using modern programming languages to handle high-throughput data processing for enterprise networks.
- Design and deploy responsive frontend user interfaces that provide operators with real-time visibility into complex satellite network topologies and performance metrics.
- Investigate and resolve intricate software defects that span multiple layers of the technology stack, ensuring minimal downtime for critical systems.
- Partner with hardware engineers and domain experts to define and refine the software requirements for new satellite features and ground station integrations.
- Implement automated testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines to accelerate the release cycle while maintaining strict quality gates.
- Optimize database queries and storage architectures to support the efficient management of telemetry data from thousands of orbiting satellites.
- Lead the coordination of software releases with global operations teams, ensuring that updates are deployed safely and securely to distributed installations.
- Document technical specifications and system behaviors to facilitate knowledge transfer and enable long-term maintainability of the codebase.
- Conduct performance benchmarking and analysis to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in application responsiveness and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing code reviews and technical guidance that fosters a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.
- Collaborate with security specialists to ensure that all software components adhere to stringent compliance standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot network communication protocols to guarantee reliable connectivity between customer premises and the satellite constellation.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide rapid response to production incidents and support issues as they arise.
- Contribute to the evolution of the software architecture by evaluating emerging technologies and proposing innovative solutions to complex problems.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor degree in a STEM field plus 1 year of full-stack experience, or 3 years of professional full-stack experience (internships count).
- Demonstrate the ability to work weekends and extended hours as required to meet critical project deadlines and support global operations.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- Possess a strong understanding of software development principles and proven experience building applications that scale under load.
- Show proficiency in at least one modern programming language and have experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to debug complex issues in distributed system environments.
- Have the legal right to work in the country where the position is located and authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Be able to pass a background check and meet all SpaceX employment eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in C#, Typescript, Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- Frontend development skills using React, Angular, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with database systems like PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or CockroachDB.
- Background in performance-critical application development.
- Familiarity with UNIX-like environments, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

Compensation: Level I ($135,000 - $155,000 per year) or Level II ($155,000 - $185,000 per year).
