About the role
SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Manager to own the end-to-end procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations supplies for power plant facilities that enable Starlink operations. In this role, you will secure critical spare parts, consumables, specialized tools, and maintenance services to ensure plant reliability and uptime. You will operate in an onsite capacity, working directly with plant teams and vendors to translate operational needs into actionable procurement strategies. The position demands a hands-on approach where you analyze requirements, manage supplier relationships, and resolve supply chain constraints in real time. You will be responsible for driving cost efficiencies while upholding strict standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role is integral to maintaining continuous operations for both permanent and temporary power plant locations. Success in this position will be measured by your ability to balance cost control with operational excellence and vendor partnership. You will contribute directly to the resilience of SpaceX's energy infrastructure supporting Starlink.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Procure MRO materials, replacement parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance services for daily power plant needs.
- Partner with plant engineers and operations staff to define requirements and keep supplier and item records current.
- Generate and manage purchase orders, monitor shipments, and troubleshoot supply disruptions to prevent downtime.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms across MRO categories to drive cost reductions.
- Oversee inventory levels, coordinate reorder activities, and work to minimize surplus stock.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with current vendors.
- Track procurement metrics including on-time delivery rates, cost savings, and vendor performance.
- Verify that all purchases satisfy quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Provide MRO support for both permanent and temporary power plant locations.
- Conduct supplier market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for strategic sourcing.
- Collaborate with logistics partners to optimize delivery schedules and reduce lead times.
- Implement process improvements to streamline purchasing workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Support cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving plant reliability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and internal inquiries.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of experience in procurement, buying, supply chain, or MRO sourcing; or 5+ years in these areas without a degree.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites or other facilities.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift.
- U.S. citizenship, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or otherwise eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
- Compliance with ITAR regulations as they apply to procurement and supply chain activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement-related software applications.
- Commitment to maintaining accurate records and adhering to company policies.
- Willingness to work within structured processes while contributing to continuous improvement.

- Background working with industrial equipment, spare parts, or plant maintenance materials.
- Understanding of power plant operations, electrical or mechanical systems, or energy infrastructure.
- Familiarity with MRO purchasing processes, inventory control, and ERP platforms.

- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in plant settings.
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
