About the role
SpaceX is on the lookout for a Sourcing Manager who will be responsible for shaping the procurement strategy and managing supplier relationships specifically for low-voltage electrical distribution and power cabling. This role is crucial in supporting the swift development of AI training clusters and the infrastructure of data centers by overseeing the supply chain for essential power components.

What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with power systems engineers and facility teams to establish commodity strategies and create technology roadmaps that align with organizational goals.
- Oversee the complete sourcing process, which includes qualifying suppliers and monitoring their performance for critical components such as busways, switchboards, panelboards, and cabling.
- Engage in negotiations for commercial agreements to ensure priority access, competitive pricing, and tailored hardware solutions that meet project requirements.
- Utilize predictive analytics and demand forecasting techniques to identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring that project deadlines are consistently met.
- Drive initiatives aimed at cost optimization through should-cost modeling and value engineering, while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Spearhead supplier innovation programs designed to enhance the efficiency and density of power infrastructure, contributing to overall operational effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics that assess cost efficiency, speed of delivery, and resilience of the supply chain, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers to encourage collaboration and innovation, driving improvements in product offerings and service levels.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies that could impact sourcing strategies.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing sourcing activities, supplier performance, and strategic recommendations.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with broader company objectives and initiatives.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR at least 5 years of experience in similar roles without a degree.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in global procurement, sourcing, or commodity management, demonstrating a solid understanding of these areas.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite in Austin, TX, as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions based on findings.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information and collaborate with various stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with low-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, and cabling specifically designed for hyperscale data centers.
- Experience working with electrical original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms, or within the energy infrastructure sector.
- A proven track record of successfully managing complex projects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Expertise in vendor development and planning for long-lead equipment, enhancing the efficiency of procurement processes.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and how they can be integrated into sourcing strategies.

- Proficiency in commodity management and strategic sourcing methodologies.
- Strong contract negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Experience with predictive analytics tools and supply chain forecasting techniques to enhance decision-making processes.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools that facilitate effective sourcing and procurement activities.
Practical notes
- This position may require both domestic and international travel as necessary to meet with suppliers and attend industry events.
