About the role
SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Manager to support capital equipment and consumables purchasing for the Starlink program. In this role, you will partner with internal teams to develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost optimization across production equipment. The position requires a professional who can move quickly and influence suppliers on cost, quality, and delivery timelines. You will be responsible for creating and executing sourcing and cost management approaches for capital purchases and production consumables. This role demands technical analysis of production equipment to identify opportunities for cost reduction, space efficiency, and process improvements. Success in this position will require strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, delivery priority, and reduced risk for SpaceX. The ideal candidate will cultivate strong internal and external relationships while driving cross-functional alignment.

What you'll do
- Partner with internal stakeholders to create and execute sourcing and cost management approaches for capital purchases and production consumables.
- Analyze production equipment from a technical perspective to find opportunities for cost reduction, space efficiency, and process improvements.
- Lead negotiations to secure favorable pricing, delivery priority, and reduced risk for SpaceX.
- Own project budgets, prepare funding requests, and develop capitalization plans centered on Total Cost of Ownership for your categories.
- Perform market research, benchmarking, and category analysis to inform strategic sourcing decisions.
- Report equipment status to leadership, including schedules, risks, and mitigation plans in a clear and timely manner.
- Monitor projected and actual spending, evaluate budget risks, and deliver clear financial analysis for decision-making.
- Develop sourcing approaches that reduce risk, enable ongoing cost reductions, and align with company targets for payment terms, cash flow, on-time delivery, and savings.
- Cultivate strong internal and external relationships while driving cross-functional alignment to ensure program success.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers to meet evolving program requirements and support growth objectives.
- Coordinate with vendors on setup, installation, repairs, and maintenance support to ensure operational continuity.
- Process purchase orders and manage escalations for purchase-to-pay issues to maintain efficient procurement workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations, supply chain management, material cost control, or master production scheduling.
- OR 9+ years of experience in the above areas without a degree.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Strong understanding of capital expenditure principles and Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and conducting performance evaluations.
- Ability to analyze technical production equipment and identify improvement opportunities.
- Willingness to comply with ITAR regulations and maintain required U.S. citizenship or authorization status.

Practical notes
- Travel up to 50% of the work week may be required, including international trips.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when deadlines demand it.
