About the role
SpaceX is seeking a strategic leader to own the full lifecycle of our employee benefit programs. You will architect and deploy initiatives that enhance the experience of our global workforce while driving measurable value. This position requires a proactive mindset to balance regulatory compliance with innovative program design. You will serve as the primary internal consultant on benefits strategy and policy. The role demands close collaboration with cross-functional partners to integrate benefits into broader talent objectives. You will ensure all programs are delivered with operational excellence and a high degree of integrity. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to scale programs efficiently as the company continues to grow.
Key facts
What you'll do
Manage administration for medical, dental, vision, life, accident, disability, and retirement plans, including open enrollment. Analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements. Develop and execute benefit strategies that align with company growth. Provide direct support to employees and their dependents regarding benefit inquiries. Coordinate with internal departments including HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and Marketing. Oversee external vendors and consultants to ensure high performance. Mentor and supervise direct reports. Handle administration for leaves of absence, workers compensation, wellness initiatives, relocation, and commuter programs. Administer the Employee Stock Purchase Plan and manage executive compensation elements. Lead the configuration and testing of new features within HRIS platforms. Perform market benchmarking to maintain competitive benefit offerings. Drive the end-to-end process for special enrollment and life event changes. Own the documentation of policies and procedures for internal and external audit readiness. Support the integration of benefits for new office locations and international teams.
Requirements
Bachelor degree. 8+ years of professional experience in human resources or employee benefits. Ability to work on-site in Hawthorne, CA. Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Must possess the right to work in the United States without sponsorship for this role at this time. You must be able to submit a completed US Tax Form W-2 for employment tax purposes. You must be able to submit a completed I-9 Form verifying identity and employment eligibility. You must be able to pass a background check and meet all SpaceX employment eligibility requirements. You must be able to comply with SpaceX policies regarding confidentiality and data security. You must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Nice to have
PHR certification or other professional HR affiliations. Advanced degree such as an MBA or Masters in HR. Proficiency in Spanish and English. Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms. Strong skills in Excel and data analysis.

This role requires on-site attendance at the Hawthorne, CA location. Occasional work during evenings or weekends may be required to meet business needs. Travel to other company offices may be required. Compensation details were provided in the Key Facts section. All hires must comply with ITAR regulations and complete necessary eligibility verification. This position operates on a standard full-time schedule with additional hours as business demands. Relocation support is not applicable for this role.
