Global Supply Manager

About the role

The Starlink Aviation team builds in-flight connectivity hardware that links aircraft with the Starlink satellite network, bringing high-speed internet to aviation customers worldwide. In this role you will own the supply chain for these products as they move across different service platforms and aircraft configurations. Your work sits at the center of the business: engineering, finance, and legal teams all depend on accurate supply plans and contracts, and the decisions you make shape the competitive position of the program. You will operate beyond day-to-day buying to understand the full picture - where parts come from, what they really cost, how the supplier base performs, and how it can be restructured for more speed at lower cost. This is a role for someone who treats suppliers, data, and contract terms as parts of one system rather than as disconnected tasks. You will be expected to bring structure and speed, to ask the questions that unlock a negotiation, and to keep the supply chain resilient as new product launches push parts demand upward.

What you'll do

• Partner with internal stakeholders to build the procurement strategies that the business actually needs.
• Guide engineering teams toward design decisions that keep the supply plan efficient and achievable.
• Determine make-versus-buy strategies for new products at the right moment in their lifecycle.
• Oversee contract performance and manage supplier delivery, expediting materials when the schedule requires it.
• Maintain master data in MRP systems so the demand signal the whole plan relies on stays accurate.
• Track supplier performance with scorecards that hold vendors to on-time delivery, quality, and compliance.
• Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to raise supplier quality, lower cost, and shorten lead times.
• Analyze the supplier base to bring in new partners and optimize the structure of cost across the category.
• Execute purchase orders and resolve invoice discrepancies so the financial close is clean.
• Provide management with clear updates on schedules, risks, and the mitigation plans that are in motion.

Requirements

• Advanced degree plus 6 years of experience, OR a bachelor degree plus 9 years of experience, OR 12 years of total experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, production planning, operations, supply chain management, material cost control, or master production scheduling.
• Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Up to 30 percent travel, including international trips.
• A valid driver license.
• Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice to have

• 6+ years of technical procurement experience in electronics or mechanical commodities, ideally within aerospace.
• Experience working across both international and domestic suppliers.
• Familiarity with the aviation component supply chain and the vendors that serve it.
• Working knowledge of raw materials, machining, fabrication, PCBA, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Understanding of AS9100 quality systems and FAA requirements.
• Experience with new product design, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Comfort with material management, clear-to-build processes, ERP/MRP systems, and should-cost modeling.
• The ability to compare options and negotiate relentlessly toward the best total cost.

Practical notes

• Salary range: 130,000 to 180,000 dollars per year.
• Compensation also includes potential long-term incentives such as stock, stock options, or cash awards, plus discretionary bonuses and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
