About the role

This role is integral to advancing SpaceX's Starlink initiative by securing and managing the capital equipment necessary for semiconductor manufacturing. As the Global Supply Manager for Semiconductor Capital Equipment, you will be responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end procurement lifecycle of high-value production machinery. This includes driving sourcing strategies, developing category-specific acquisition plans, and ensuring strict alignment with project timelines. You will act as the central liaison between technical engineering teams and procurement, translating operational requirements into actionable purchase plans. The position demands a disciplined approach to budget oversight, risk mitigation, and vendor coordination to support aggressive production rollout schedules. Success in this role requires a thorough understanding of capital investment processes and a commitment to operational excellence. You will be accountable for the financial and logistical execution of equipment acquisition, ensuring that each acquisition supports the broader goals of the Starlink semiconductor mission.

What you'll do

You will partner with internal stakeholders to create and execute sourcing and cost management plans for capital equipment and production consumables. This involves conducting detailed spend analysis to identify trends and opportunities for strategic cost reduction. You will analyze production equipment technical specifications to find opportunities for process, space, and cost improvements, ensuring that each investment drives efficiency. Negotiating contracts will be a core responsibility, aimed at maximizing value, mitigating risk, and ensuring project schedules are met without compromise. You will manage total cost of ownership, compile funding requests, and track project budgets with precision. Performing market research and benchmarking for assigned categories will provide critical data to support decision-making. You will provide regular status updates to leadership regarding equipment schedules, risks, and mitigation steps to maintain transparency. Sourcing and onboarding new suppliers will be essential to support evolving business requirements and maintain supply chain resilience. Coordinating with vendors to facilitate equipment setup, repairs, and ongoing maintenance will ensure minimal production disruption. You will execute purchase orders and resolve procurement issues swiftly to uphold operational continuity. Additionally, you will develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure performance standards are met and forecast equipment delivery timelines to support production planning activities. Implementing procurement best practices will drive department efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all acquisition processes.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and possess either 6+ years of experience or 10+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations, supply chain management, material cost control, or master production scheduling. Demonstrated experience in managing complex procurement cycles is essential, along with a strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions. The ability to work onsite in Bastrop, TX, is mandatory, as remote work is not an option. You must meet ITAR requirements, which include being a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends to meet deadlines is required to support critical project milestones. You must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, including international travel, to fulfill procurement and vendor obligations. Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is non-negotiable. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on speed will enable you to handle multiple priorities efficiently. A technical background sufficient to communicate effectively with engineers is necessary to ensure accurate equipment specification reviews and implementation.
