About the role
Become a vital part of the team that drives the mass production of Starlink hardware, which is instrumental in delivering internet access worldwide. In this position, you will be responsible for operating both sinker and wire EDM machines to produce intricate molds and die sets essential for our operations.

What you'll do
- Program, set up, and operate both wire and sinker EDM machinery to ensure efficient production processes.
- Carry out CNC machining tasks specifically focused on graphite materials.
- Work closely with the design team to enhance and refine electrode designs for optimal performance.
- Manufacture electrodes that adhere to stringent tolerances and meet production deadlines.
- Establish and monitor machining parameters tailored to various types of materials utilized in production.
- Create and maintain the necessary fixturing required for the EDM department to function smoothly.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all EDM equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Use precision measurement tools such as gauges, micrometers, and indicators to inspect high-precision components for quality assurance.
- Assist with general shop operations during machine run times to support overall productivity.
- Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve any machining issues that may arise.
- Document machining processes and results to maintain accurate records for quality control and process improvement.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in programming sinker EDM machines.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in CNC programming specifically for electrodes.
- At least 1 year of experience in electrode design or pulling processes.
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
- Physical ability to perform various tasks, including standing, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, and stretching.
- Availability to work either the 1st shift (7:00 am to 5:30 pm) or the 2nd shift (3:30 pm to 2:00 am), with the possibility of weekends and overtime as needed.
- Note: Candidates hired for the 2nd shift must be available for onboarding during the 1st shift and attend periodic meetings.
Nice to have
- Over 5 years of experience in CNC EDM setup, operation, and programming is preferred.
- More than 5 years of experience working with GF+ wire machines is a plus.
- Familiarity with CNC EDM hole popper or hole drilling setup techniques.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Advanced skills in EDM work holding and programming techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of cutting parameters for materials like graphite and copper.
- Experience with robotics and System 3R work holding systems.
- Ability to provide insightful technical feedback to engineering teams to enhance processes and designs.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in operating Sinker EDM and Wire EDM machines.
- Experienced with Graphite CNC machining.
- Familiarity with GF+ wire machines and their operational nuances.
- Knowledge of System 3R work holding systems.
- Competent in applying GD&T principles in machining processes.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools for quality assurance.
