Become a vital member of the Starlink team, where your efforts will contribute to the enhancement of the world's most extensive satellite internet network. In this position, you will be responsible for shaping the strategy, defining key performance indicators, and developing tools to assess the performance and expansion of the Starlink network. This role requires close collaboration with both internal engineering teams and external partners to ensure the program scales effectively to accommodate millions of users.

What you'll do
- Design and sustain essential infrastructure, tools, processes, and bespoke software aimed at objectively assessing areas for growth within the Starlink network.
- Streamline the process of collecting metrics and pinpoint widespread application issues across the Starlink network, including Wi-Fi functionalities.
- Spearhead technical investigations to address persistent application-level challenges.
- Construct ground-based software systems dedicated to data ingestion, transformation, and storage.

Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related STEM field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as C, C++, or Python.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools to communicate findings effectively.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and requirements.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with networking technologies and Wi-Fi protocols, including TCP/UDP and 802.11 standards.
- Experience in developing predictive models and machine learning pipelines utilizing real-world datasets, such as clustering analysis and anomaly detection.
- Background in designing, implementing, and maintaining custom ETL processes.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets, particularly those exceeding terabytes in size.
- Skills in developing and deploying analytical tools for data exploration and analysis.

Practical notes
The compensation for this Level 3 position ranges from $165,000 to $230,000, with the final salary determined by the candidate's knowledge, skills, education, and experience. The total compensation package includes potential long-term incentives, such as stock or cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees benefit from comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, and additional perks. Employees earn three weeks of paid vacation and enjoy ten or more paid holidays each year. In Washington State, employees also accrue paid sick leave. Company-provided shuttles operate from select locations in Seattle to the Redmond office on weekdays. Candidates should be prepared to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
