About the role
SpaceX is seeking a dedicated Campus Planning Manager to oversee the strategic development and growth of the Bastrop facility. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for crafting a comprehensive vision for the site's infrastructure and utilities as production capabilities expand. This position requires a professional adept at managing complex technical specifications while fostering strong relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

What you'll do
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of utilities and facilities, ensuring that stakeholder input is integrated, assumptions are critically evaluated, and records reflect the actual needs of the site.
- Develop and oversee a multi-year master plan for the site that proactively addresses anticipated growth and infrastructure requirements.
- Lead the strategic planning for land use to facilitate efficient expansion of the campus.
- Build and maintain relationships with local government representatives, landowners, and other essential stakeholders to secure necessary collaborations.
- Partner with the Government Affairs team to expedite the permitting process and navigate regulatory challenges.
- Collaborate closely with construction teams, operations, and site leadership to align priorities and ensure effective execution of projects.
- Manage utility expansion initiatives from the initial planning stages through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Analyze and report on site development progress, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving needs and challenges.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that all voices are heard in the planning process.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in campus planning and infrastructure development to inform strategic decisions.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management on planning initiatives, project status, and future needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards throughout the planning and execution phases.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field is essential.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in site planning, facilities management, or managing infrastructure projects is required.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time on a regular basis.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex technical requirements and develop effective solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience in long-range planning, stakeholder engagement, and navigating regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or Smartsheet is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams and external partners.
- Background in high-growth industrial sectors, utility expansion projects, or campus development initiatives.
- Knowledge of Texas land use laws, permitting processes, and local governmental operations is beneficial.
- An advanced degree (such as an MBA or a Master's in Engineering/Planning) or PMP certification would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with GIS software, AutoCAD, or site modeling applications is a plus.
