Sourgum is modernizing the waste and recycling industry by connecting businesses with a network of over 5,000 vendors through our proprietary platform. We are looking for an Account Manager to join our Sales department and help maintain client relationships while supporting our Account Executive team. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end relationship health of assigned clients, ensuring seamless communication and operational alignment between our platform, vendors, and customers. This role requires a proactive mindset to manage the full client lifecycle, from onboarding through renewal, while safeguarding service reliability and contract integrity. You will serve as the trusted liaison for stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable insights for internal teams and external partners. The position demands a high level of ownership in resolving day-to-day issues and preventing potential disruptions to service. Ultimately, you will drive retention and satisfaction by ensuring that every interaction reflects our commitment to integrity, sustainability, and operational excellence in the waste management sector.

What you'll do
- Prepare and manage contract renewals and new agreements in coordination with Account Executives, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, bridging communication between them, our vendor relations team, and internal staff to maintain clarity and alignment.
- Track service performance metrics and resolve customer issues promptly to ensure satisfaction and uphold service level expectations.
- Partner with the finance department to monitor account payments, follow up on outstanding invoices, and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Gather and relay critical information between vendors and clients to coordinate projects, schedules, and resource allocation effectively.
- Manage administrative tasks and special projects to provide proactive support to the broader sales team and enhance overall productivity.
- Keep detailed records current and accurate for all assigned accounts, maintaining data integrity within our systems for reporting and analysis.
- Research industry regulations and emerging trends to identify opportunities for improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Utilize CRM software to log interactions, update account statuses, and forecast sales activities to support strategic planning.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to escalate complex issues and ensure timely resolutions that protect client relationships.
- Monitor vendor performance and feedback to identify patterns that may impact service quality or client experience.
- Assist in the development of materials and processes that streamline account management workflows and improve client engagement.
- Support the implementation of new platform features or changes, ensuring clients understand the benefits and how to leverage them.
- Maintain a high level of responsiveness to inquiries, requests for information, and escalations across all communication channels.
Requirements
- Ability to work on-site at our Jersey City office consistently and reliably during standard business hours.
- Professional background in account management, sales, or customer service, ideally within B2B services or a related industry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple accounts, and meet strict deadlines without compromising quality.
- Demonstrated time management capabilities to handle a fast-paced environment and shifting priorities effectively.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in using technology platforms, including MS Office Suite and CRM software such as Salesforce or Zendesk Sell, for daily tasks.

Practical notes
This is a full-time position based on-site at the Jersey City office, requiring consistent availability during standard working hours. The role does not involve international travel or visa sponsorship considerations. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
