Associate Product Designer

Solace Healthcare is working to fix a broken system where 88% of U.S. adults lack the health literacy needed to navigate care on their own. The company was founded in 2022 and has quickly grown into a Series C startup backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. As an Associate Product Designer, you will partner with senior designers, product managers, engineers, and clinicians to shape the patient experience. This is a hands-on role for early-career designers who want to learn quickly and ship real products that reach actual users, and you will take complex healthcare processes and turn them into clear, usable, and thoughtful interfaces that help patients make better decisions and achieve better health outcomes.

What you'll do

Learn from experienced designers by working closely alongside them every day

Bring clarity and simplicity to difficult and complex healthcare experiences

Support the creation of production-ready user flows and interfaces for web and mobile platforms

Explore new ideas quickly through sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototypes

Work closely with product managers, engineers, and clinicians to craft thoughtful solutions

Take part in user research, usability testing, and design review sessions

Accept feedback readily and iterate quickly toward improved design outcomes each time

Help maintain and grow Solace's design system and shared standards

Pay close attention to small details because they add up to meaningful experiences

Contribute to the design of tools that help patients make better health decisions

Rapidly prototype and test new concepts to validate design directions with real users

Help design tools that pair patients with expert advocates to make better health decisions and get better outcomes

Requirements

Comfort with uncertainty and a genuine willingness to learn through hands-on practice and experimentation

Strong curiosity about design, systems, and how people interact with and experience products in the real world

A natural sense for what makes consumer experiences feel clear, human, and genuinely enjoyable to use

A bias toward action, preferring to build something and improve it rather than wait for perfect information or clarity

Care for craft and attention to detail even when working at speed and under tight deadlines

Strong communication skills and openness to receiving and acting on constructive feedback from teammates

Familiarity with modern design tools and collaborative software, especially Figma, for interface design work

An online portfolio that shows your thinking, design process, and completed work with clear explanations

Nice to have

Experience through internships, class projects, student teams, or personal side projects where you designed and shipped real products to users

Background in healthcare or health technology is a strong plus for this role and would be valued highly

Experience working in cross-functional teams with engineers, product managers, and clinicians to deliver design solutions

Familiarity with design systems and component libraries is helpful for maintaining consistent user interfaces

Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices would be a valuable addition to the team

Skills & tools

Figma for interface design, prototyping, and collaborative design work with distributed teams

Sketch for digital design work, mockups, and visual exploration of product concepts

Adobe Creative Suite for visual design tasks, graphic assets, and presentation materials

User research and usability testing methods for validating design decisions with real users

Prototyping tools for interactive design exploration, user flows, and design validation

Design systems and component-based workflows for building consistent and scalable products

Practical notes

This is an in-person role at the Redwood City office requiring three days per week of on-site work and collaboration with the local team

Applicants must be recent college graduates from the class of 2026 seeking full-time employment in a product design capacity

All candidates must be based in the United States with valid work authorization and the ability to work on-site regularly
