What you'll do

• Lead the design process for home loan products, from ideation to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights that will inform design decisions and improve user experience.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and translate them into intuitive design solutions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that effectively communicate design concepts and user flows.
• Develop and maintain a design system that ensures consistency across all home loan products and enhances overall usability.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of design thinking.
• Analyze user feedback and metrics to iterate on designs and continuously improve the user experience.
• Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to keep SoFi's home loan products at the forefront of innovation.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to their professional growth by providing constructive feedback and guidance.
• Participate in design critiques and provide input on the work of peers, fostering a collaborative design environment.
• Work with marketing teams to ensure that product messaging aligns with the design vision and resonates with target audiences.
• Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, articulating the value of design decisions and their impact on user experience.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in financial services or related fields.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar applications.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate design concepts to non-design stakeholders.
• Experience working in an Agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices in design.
• Experience in designing for mobile platforms and responsive web applications.
• Knowledge of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Previous experience in the mortgage or home loan industry is highly desirable.
