What you'll do
- Lead the design process for home loan products, from ideation to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights that will inform design decisions and improve user experience.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and translate them into intuitive design solutions.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that effectively communicate design concepts and user flows.
- Develop and maintain a design system that ensures consistency across all home loan products and enhances overall usability.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of design thinking.
- Analyze user feedback and metrics to iterate on designs and continuously improve the user experience.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to keep SoFi's home loan products at the forefront of innovation.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to their professional growth by providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Participate in design critiques and provide input on the work of peers, fostering a collaborative design environment.
- Work with marketing teams to ensure that product messaging aligns with the design vision and resonates with target audiences.
- Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, articulating the value of design decisions and their impact on user experience.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in financial services or related fields.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar applications.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about design challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate design concepts to non-design stakeholders.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices in design.
- Experience in designing for mobile platforms and responsive web applications.
- Knowledge of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Previous experience in the mortgage or home loan industry is highly desirable.
